Canaccord Genuity 2012 Technology Outlook - Top Picks
"After a year in which global macro machinations drove stock correlations to record highs, the Canaccord Genuity technology team is hopeful that 2012 will be a year in which favorable returns are the reward for superior fundamental analysis. Our team remains positively inclined on the technology sector in general, with noted caution around PC growth trends and near-term supply constraints. Secular trends are most favorable in Mobile (smartphone growth, the proliferation and monetization of mobile advertising, advanced embedded functionality, etc.), Cloud-based services (social applications, eCommerce, etc.), and New Media (favorable OTT trends and implications for the connected living room). Our top picks focus incrementally on product cycle stories and businesses that are well positioned to be the beneficiaries of established growth trends."
2012 Top Technology Stock Picks:
Analyst Bobby Burleson on Semiconductors: Analog Devices (NYSE: ADI), IDT Corp (Nasdaq: IDTI)
Analyst T. Michael Walkley on Communications Technology: Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL), QUALCOMM (Nasdaq: QCOM), Sierra Wireless (Nasdaq: SWIR)
Analyst Jeff Rath on New Media & Location Technology: Trimble Navigation (Nasdaq: TRMB), Velti (Nasdaq: VELT), KIT digital (Nasdaq: KITD), Rovi Corp (Nasdaq: ROVI)
