Canaccord Adams Downgrades First Solar (FSLR) to Hold
Canaccord Adams downgrades First Solar (Nasdaq: FSLR) from Buy to Hold, maintaining their $180 price target. The firm cited near-term risks and a lack of catalysts that causes them to step to the sidelines.
Commenting on yesterday's analyst day, the firm said, "The company laid out ambitious targets with respect to module efficiency and throughput, but alluded to little else in the way of some of the positive announcements we were looking for.
The firm also notes that file First Solar remains the leading solar company, the company issued fairly ambitious targets with respect to the project pipeline and technology advances, and a lack of visibility into further positive catalysts remains. The firm said the company's new focus will lower GMs but likely increase income in absolute terms.

Solar price not low enough?
If you think you will save money on solar by waiting until the solar price is low enough.. Remember , you will pay more for higher oil and coal as result of your waiting on solar prices coming down... You will gain nothing or lose more by waiting... Delays never work...
Solar Three Times
We have to build three solar watts for every coal watt or oil watt... Sun doesnt stay up there all night and day. Also weather , etc...For every coal powerplant we dont want built, we have to build three solar powerplants. So I ask you what is the delaying tactic all about?? delay, delay, delay,,,,,,, What for? Does this mean you prefer coal ? to get it over with? Fine with me, suit yourselves! You will soon find that you have to ban firewood!
Piston engines
We will still be using gasoline but we will not be using it every time we make a trip. We will have a second car like electric cars for most of our errand trips.. Electricity will grow so fast that coal will be unable to keep up... This is why we have to go solar now.
Big Oil Is Worried!
Many consumers big and small are still unsure which way to go , oil or solar... Most of us will go solar but it will take some time to make our minds up. The bottom line is that the Sun will still be there long after the last drop of oil is used up here on Earth, right? Also, Big Oil is unable to keep up with our ever growing demands...oil prices is down simply because we are in a recession. If we dont produce enough electrical cars that can be charged with solar or coal, then we will be stuck with oil all the way to the last drop... Want that??

You Cant Recover Economy without..
Gumby on Jun 25, 2009 01:53 PMusing more energy. No matter how efficient you want to be. We will use more energy during the recovery of the economy. If we do nothing now, we will waste money on higher energy prices. There is no time to pick solar winners right now,,, everyone got to pitch in and churn out as many solar modules as possible to better power our economic recovery. Solar companies will merge later on.
