Shares of Amarin Corporation plc (NASDAQ: AMRN) are higher Friday after the USPTO updated the patent status on application 13/282,145 to show it will be allowed and will be mailed Sept. 5. The '145 patent is a continuation of 12/702,889.
The Vascepa patent wins may support Vascepa exclusivity into 2030, analysts at Lazard note.
Amarin is awaiting an FDA decision on NCE status, which would grant Vascepa 5-year marketing exclusivity.
Shares of AMRN are up 2.9 percent mid-day to $13.40.

Im a little confused. What does this patent grant to AMRN's Vascepa?
