Activist investor Nelson Peltz is re-accumulating a stake in Kraft Foods Inc. (NYSE: KFT) through his Trian hedge fund and he didn't want the world to know about it.
In an amended 13F filing with the SEC after the close of trading Monday, Peltz's Trian disclosed it held 12,176,335 shares of Kraft at the quarter ended March 31, 2011, but confidentiality treatment with the SEC kept the stake from being disclosed until today.
Peltz's confidential treatment on the Kraft stake expired on June 17, 2011.
Peltz is no stranger to Kraft. In the past, the company was his fund's largest holding.
