Tesla Motors (Nasdaq: TSLA) is on watch today after an executive with Samsung SDI affirmed that the company was in battery supply talks with Tesla.

At an event in Seoul, South Korea, Samsung SDI CEO Park Sang-Jin said that discussions to supply rechargeable batteries are in final stages. The executive didn't elaborate further.

News today comes following a report earlier in October, which had Tesla potentially tapping Samsung for battery supplies as it looked to ramp production of its Model S and introduce the Model X in 2014.

Shares of Tesla are up in early trading.
