Did One of Tesla's (TSLA) Model S Sedans Spontaneously Catch Fire?

October 2, 2013 3:24 PM
Tesla Motors' (Nasdaq: TSLA) Model S received the top safety rating from Consumer Reports, the NHTSA, and also has acquired several other notable accolades. But, does that mean the car is infallible?

Auto blog Jalopnik doesn't think so. The site said one of its readers saw a Model S on fire within the last week on Washington State Route 167 outside of Seattle. Seattle, as we all know, is the Silicon Valley of the Pacific Northwest with plenty of money to spend on things like a Model S.

Nothing was known as to how the fire started.

Shares of Tesla are down 8.3 percent Wednesday. Below is a photo of the Model S. Allegedly.
