Shift4 partners with Lydian to add USDT stablecoin payment option
Shift4 (NYSE: FOUR) announced a partnership with Lydian to expand its Pay with Crypto solution by adding Tether (USDT) payment acceptance for merchants. The collaboration enables Shift4's merchants to accept the stablecoin while receiving settlement in local currency.
The Pay with Crypto product allows customers to pay using major wallets similar to credit card transactions. Merchants receive funds in their local currency without handling digital assets directly. The Lydian partnership adds Tether to the existing crypto payment options without requiring new workflows or cryptocurrency expertise from merchants.
"We built our Pay with Crypto solution because it is becoming a mainstream payment method. This seamless, secure way to accept Tether expands on our successful program without added complexity or risk," said Taylor Lauber, CEO of Shift4.
Shift4's Pay with Crypto solution is currently operational across thousands of merchants in the United States. The company processes billions of transactions annually for hundreds of thousands of businesses globally.
"Lydian was designed to bridge the gap between traditional money and digital assets by making crypto function exactly like traditional payments at checkout," said Carl Grimstad, CEO of Lydian.
Lydian operates as a digital asset payment infrastructure that enables merchants and payment providers to accept stablecoins and other digital assets at point of sale. The company is backed by Tether and Cantor Fitzgerald and offers same-day settlement in local currencies.
