Verra Mobility launches digital rental car service through vehicle systems
Verra Mobility Corporation (NASDAQ: VRRM) announced the launch of AutoKinex Virtual Agent, a digital platform that allows rental car customers to complete checkout processes and select additional services directly through vehicle infotainment systems.
The Mesa, Arizona-based company stated that the system enables renters to review rental details and modify services such as prepaid fuel, tolling, or insurance coverage without returning to rental counters. Customers can access these functions once inside their rental vehicles.
The Virtual Agent operates through Verra Mobility's AutoKinex connected vehicle payments platform. The system can send contextual notifications to drivers during their trips, including reminders to refuel before vehicle return or prompts to purchase fuel programs.
"Rental car customers increasingly expect a frictionless, digital-first experience," said Stacey Mosser, executive vice president at Verra Mobility. "AutoKinex Virtual Agent enables true counter-bypass by allowing renters to confirm details and opt into services directly from the vehicle's infotainment system."
According to the company, the platform integrates with existing rental systems and uses workflow automation to guide customers through rental processes. A 2025 J.D. Power study cited in the announcement found higher satisfaction among rental customers who bypassed counters compared to those who used traditional counter services.
The system is designed to reduce counter congestion at rental facilities and minimize manual processing requirements for rental companies. Verra Mobility stated the AutoKinex Virtual Agent is currently available for rental car companies.
Verra Mobility provides mobility technology solutions and operates in North America, Europe, and Australia, according to the company statement.
