The United States of America is one of the richest, most powerful countries in the world, and it really is a sum of its parts. It is comprised of fifty states, each of which is unique in its own way. How can you compare Florida to New York? California to Maine?

Apparently, stereotypes about each state have even reached the tech-o-sphere. On this list, you’ll find pictures made by artificial intelligence (AI), which took a crack at depicting what people from each state look like. Get ready to laugh (and don’t be too offended) by this interesting array of photos.

1. Alabama

What State Is Known For: College Football

Roll Tide! First on this list is Alabama, a state known for being as Southern in charm as you can get. AI generated this image of an Alabaman man, complete with camo, a long beard, and an American flag. Those of us who know ‘Bama can say that this is about right.

The state is famous for its college football (don’t get its citizens stared about U of A and Auburn), agriculture and cotton industry, pretty gulf coast beaches, role in the Civil Rights movement, and, of course, its Southern hospitality.

2. Arizona

What State Is Known For: Native American Culture
Credit: @FluentInFinance/X

This fun-loving man was AI’s idea of what people look like in Arizona. You can see his cowboy boots, cowboy hat, and desert-inspired attire. Though a bit stereotypical, it’s not too far off—AI took stereotypes from Arizona and made it into a living embodiment.

Famous for its Grand Canyon, desert culture, and saguaro cacti, Arizona has a population of just over seven million. People love living there, with many coming from California because of less-crowded cities, sunnier weather, and a lower cost of living.

3. Minnesota

What State Is Known For: Flat Plains And Small Towns
Credit: Pleated Jeans

This AI depiction of a Minnesotan leans heavily into the fishing industry, which makes sense, as the state is consistently ranked as one of the best in America for fishing. Walleye, bass, and Northern Pike are some of the most populous fish in the state (though you can only catch them at certain times of the year).

This guy, though he may look rugged, is still going to be “Minnesota Nice,” which is the term of endearment that refers to how friendly Minnesotans are. Minnesotans love Prince, the Vikings, and they are seasoned pros when it comes to driving in winter weather.

4. Hawaii

What State Is Known For: Hawaiian Culture
Credit: Midjourney/Reddit

This AI-created Hawaiian man looks like he’s loving life, and how could he not, considering he’s in Hawaii? The island state is the only U.S. state to be outside of North America, and it’s also the only tropical archipelago, too.

Hawaii @kueez/Pinterest Hawaii @kueez/Pinterest

Hawaii is famous for its culture, beauty, tropical resorts and beaches, and hot climate. According to most travel sites, the best time to visit Hawaii is from March to September, as that’s when the state has the lowest amount of rain and the hottest sunshine.

5. Nevada

What State Is Known For: Las Vegas
Credit: Pleated Jeans

Nevada is a state with a lot to it (beautiful deserts, mining, and more), but Las Vegas and its casinos and wild nightlife tend to dominate what people know of the state. Las Vegas is home to an $8.45 billion casino industry, of which MGM, worth $14 billion, is most prominent.

Vegas costs around $2,500 for a four-day trip for two people, and the usual accommodation cost is about $170 a night. Want to get married? Go to Vegas. Gamble? Go to Vegas. See amazing, incredible shows and live performances? You guessed it—viva Las Vegas.

6. Florida

What State Is Known For: Tropical Resorts And Eccentric People
Credit: Midjourney/Reddit

This rather unflattering AI depiction is sure to irritate Floridians reading this, but, hey—we didn’t create it. This lizard-human hybrid in a hat and tropical shirt is AI’s depiction of the average Florida resident, and we’re glad it’s not right on that.

Florida @kueez/Pinterest Florida @kueez/Pinterest

Florida does have some eccentric people (“Florida Man” and “Florida Woman” are always a fun Google search), as well as tropical beaches, Latin-American cultural influences, and, of course, Disney World.

7. New Mexico

What State Is Known For: Hot Deserts
Credit: Pleated Jeans

The setting of famous shows like Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, New Mexico is the fifth-largest by area of the U.S. states, though it has just 2.116 million people. New Mexico is covered by swaths of desert, mountain ranges, and places to ski and hike.

New Mexico is interesting, as it has a lower cost of living, yet its economy is not as booming as other American states. Much like Arizona (also on this list), NM draws people in who want a cheaper place to live, as well as the opportunity to engage with a lot of outdoor activities, history, and nature.

8. Oregon

What State Is Known For: Wildlife And Forests
Credit: u/NeutronicTacyon/Reddit

This woman is all about peace, love, and, probably, environmentalism, which makes sense, as she is AI’s idea of a resident of Oregon. Oregon is known as a hippie-ish state, and not for nothing—after all, the state is home to some of the most beautiful sites in America’s natural pantheon.

Oregon @ladbible/Instagram Oregon @ladbible/Instagram

Go into the wilderness, and you’ll find the Oregon Trail, wildlife, beavers, timber, and more. Go into Oregon’s cities, and you’ll see hipsters, progressivism, coffee shops, microbreweries, and a lot of gals who look like this one.

9. Maine

What State Is Known For: Lobster
Credit: r/Maine/Reddit

This is definitely one of the more stereotypical AI depictions on this list, but it’s based in truth. After all, Maine is famous for its seafood, particularly its lobster (though we doubt they’re wearing crustaceans as hats over there).

Maine r/Maine/Reddit Maine r/Maine/Reddit

Lighthouses, hiking, craft beer, farm-to-table dining, and more are what Maine is famous for. As far as its lobster goes, the value of the commercial fisheries of Maine is worth an incredible $389 million, with lobstermen hauling in almost 100 million pounds of these red, spiny sea critters.

10. Montana

What State Is Known For: Natural, Open Beauty
Credit: Pleated Jeans

This AI-created cowboy looks as though he rides across the plains of Montana with confidence and, truly, you can’t do much better when it comes to beautiful natural sites, cowboy culture, and the true American spirit.

Montana @pleated-jeans/twitter.com Montana @pleated-jeans/twitter.com

Montana embodies the meaning of “Home on the Range.” If you drive through the state, you might see people like this guy, as well as foothills, mountains, and badlands. Oh, and you can’t forget the Pryor Mountain wild horse herd, which numbers 160 and has been around for two centuries.

11. Nebraska

What State Is Known For: Corn/Beef Farming
Credit:  Pleated Jeans

Though this image might be a tad stereotypical, it’s based in truth, as Nebraska is the third-most-productive state in America when it comes to corn. For white corn, it is first in the country. Nebraska is a state we couldn’t live without, as its farms are so important.

Nebraska @pleated-jeans/twitter.com Nebraska @pleated-jeans/twitter.com

Who knows? Maybe some of its farmers do look like this guy. In addition to its corn prowess, Nebraska is also the birth-place of Kool-Aid, Reuben sandwiches, and Ranch dressing (which was invented by a Nebraskan living in Alaska).

12. Texas

What State Is Known For: Cowboys And Cowgirls
Credit: u/NeutronicTacyon/Reddit

Texas is full of yee-haw energy, and so is this guy, who is the prime Texas citizen, according to AI. The cowboy hat, big-buckle belt, and American flag are all pretty on-point. If we could see his feet, he’d probably have a pair of cowboy boots on.

Texas @ladbible/Instagram Texas @ladbible/Instagram

TX is proud of its cowboy and cowgirl heritage. Its culture is unique, composed of Southern hospitality, rodeos, country music, Tex-Mex cuisine, diverse landscapes, big metropolitan cities, and, of course, a love of its oil and gas and cattle industries.

13. New Jersey

What State Is Known For: Casinos
Credit: Shore News Network

Shore News Network posted this photo, which was AI’s dramatic, over-the-top portrayal of what people from New Jersey look like (try not to be offended, as the image is supposed to be outlandish).

New Jersey @shorenewsnetwork/Pinterest New Jersey @shorenewsnetwork/Pinterest

We see big hair, pizza, gold chains, and outlandish outfits, and, frankly, you can still find that in Atlantic City and the Jersey Shore. Aside from those flashy locations, NJ also has Revolutionary War sites, lakes, mountains, and incredible state parks for those not into nightlife and gambling (don’t skip out on the pizza, though).

14. Virginia

What State Is Known For: Historical Pilgrim Sites
Credit: Buzzfeed

These two are Virginians, not-so-modern residents living in what was, historically, America’s first English settlement. The pair are historical actors, it seems, which makes sense, when you consider Virginia’s history. The state is famous for being the birthplace of America and the “Mother of Presidents.”

Virginia @buzzfeed/twitter.com Virginia @buzzfeed/twitter.com

Chesapeake Bay, Arlington Cemetery, Appalachian Trail, Jamestown and its Historic Triangle, Blue Ridge, and more are all famous places for which the state is known. As for its iconic foods, you can’t go wrong with Blue Crab, Ham Biscuits, Peanut Soup, Country Ham, and Virginia Peanut Pie.
