Welcome, dear readers! Are you familiar with those moments when you question, “Am I the bad guy?” Buckle up, as we explore a roller coaster of hilarity and cringe with our hand-picked selection of the 20+ best ‘Am I The A******’ threads from the deepest corners of Reddit.

Spoiler: More often than not, they are indeed the a******. Laugh, squirm, and rejoice in the fact that you’re potentially not the worst person in the room after all! Prepare for an entertaining journey!

1. I Don’t Work Here

Year: 2010s

This 6’4” man had the right to say no to reaching something on a high shelf, but that doesn’t mean he can’t be critiqued for it. When a small woman asked him to reach something for her, he refused, saying he didn’t work at Walmart.

It would’ve taken two seconds, and pretty much everyone agreed this guy just felt like being a contrarian that day. The funniest person in the story is the random guy who did help, as he seemed totally flabbergasted at how much of “TA” this guy was.

2. No Vegetarianism For Me, Thanks

Morning sickness is rough, and some people get it worse than others (Google hyperemesis if you want proof). This poster’s wife has bad nausea and vomiting, with many smells, particularly meat, setting her off.

Come on. This woman is growing an entire baby—your baby—in her body for you, and you can’t go without meat (in the house, mind you) for eight more months? Seems a bit selfish—why would you want to make the mother of your unborn child vomit every other day? Burgers can wait.

3. Chicken Skin Thief

Year: 2021

Most of us have at least one weird eating habit, but this is a bit much. One man’s roommate’s girlfriend is apparently a big fan of the skins of fried chicken. She won’t eat the meat itself, instead peeling off the chicken skins one by one.

While that’s fine if it’s your personal portion, the girlfriend did this to everyone’s shared food. Understandably, this roommate didn’t want to share Popeye’s with her ever again, a position to which his roommate and his chicken-skin-thieving GF were opposed.

4. Thanks For The $1,500, Bye!

Year: 2019

Some people defended the OP on this, others thought he was full of it. He knew he wanted to break up with his boyfriend, and he did…after his BF gave him a tuition check worth $1,500, which he kept.

Redditors argued back and forth about whether OP should’ve handed over the check. A valid point made was that, when you know for sure that you want to end a relationship with someone, do it as soon as you can—don’t string them along, even for a moment.

5. You’re Top 3, Babe

The only response to a reply like this is to get up and walk out of the room, ending the relationship for good. This bonehead told his girlfriend that she wasn’t the best GF he ever had, but she was “up there.”

Top three, at least. That went over like a lead balloon, and a big fight broke out between them. Even if what he said was true, why say that? Why not just lie or change the subject? This was a hard lesson learned…for both of them.

6. Come On, Seriously?

How you could possibly ask if you’re TA for calling an eight-year-old ugly is beyond comprehension. Of course you are; there’s no excuse for making fun of a child’s looks unless you want to inflict emotional damage on them.

TA, TA, TA. This eight-year-old is still a little girl; there’s no reason to call her “unfortunate-looking.” While OP has a point about reinforcing positive qualities besides looking pretty, there is never an excuse to tear a kid down. Using some women’s empowerment shtick as an excuse is indefensible, too.

7. The Birthday “Gift”

So…what do you think about this post? This is another one that isn’t too one-sided. A man and his kids wanted to celebrate his wife’s birthday by cleaning the house from top to bottom. When they presented the clean house, his wife wasn’t happy.

She felt as though cleaning was something they should do anyway, rather than leave it up to her. The man’s defense was that they were tight on money and, basically, the wife shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth.

8. A Shame All The Way Around

When you go to your job, don’t forget that your loyalties don’t lie to them, as they could easily do this to you. In this case, a group of corporate dirtbags fired a guy because he was, God forbid, taking more than one month to recover from his dad’s death.

Rather than wait “months and months” for him to hit his sales targets again, the company let him go. The ex-employee told them off righteously, and this person then had the nerve to go on Reddit and ask if they were the a-hole. The resounding answer: YES.

9. A Delicious Romantic Dinner

Year: 2010s
Credit: u/luckyloos

You can already tell from how this question was asked that the person who wrote this post isn’t ready to hear any negative criticism of himself. No, of course, you’re not “TA” for making your girlfriend “a delicious romantic dinner.”

But, that gets complicated when the “romantic dinner” is revealed to have included mushrooms, a food that his girlfriend hates. He included them in the dish and was shocked when his girlfriend wouldn’t eat it. This is an example of someone who wanted to make a nice dinner to feel good about themselves, not to do something nice.

10. Pick The Cat, Sis

If your partner ever tries to make you choose between them and your beloved pet, you should probably pick the latter, save for some outlandish circumstance. This man tried to force his girlfriend to give up her cat, and all we have to say is YTA.

The two are a “package deal,” and this GF needs to run away, fast. Animals aren’t just playthings you discard when they are inconvenient—they’re part of the family, and they matter just as much.

11. How To Catch A Thief

Year: 2020
Credit: u/gottmilk_

One Reddit user was sick of his roommate stealing his food, including taking swigs of his almond milk. After fruitless confrontations with his roommate, he took matters into his own hands. He switched out the almond milk for regular, which was perilous for his roommate, who was lactose intolerant.

That was one way to end this grocery gaslighting, though we are sure his roommate wasn’t pleased after getting quite ill, the end verdict was NTA according to Reddit users around the world. That’ll teach him to steal.

12. Gotta Ask

Year: 2022

Listen, we all know how much grandmas love their grandkids (seriously, they are fiercer than momma bears), but they have to be considerate. Heartbreakingly, this woman’s daughter has cancer that has put her in an unstable medical situation.

The daughter’s grandmother wanted to take the toddler away on a trip, hotel and airfare included, just the two of them, but mom said “no” because she was uncomfortable. It makes sense, especially considering how young the girl is, as well as how little time she may have left.

13. Zero Empathy Bridezilla

Year: 2020
Credit: u/brinmendo

Some Reddit AITA posts have you screaming internally, wondering how anyone could ever not think they were TA. For example, this woman, whose father was paralyzed after a serious car accident (which made her “uncomfortable,” apparently).

©BreizhAtao/stock.adobe.com ©BreizhAtao/stock.adobe.com

The woman didn’t want her father to walk her down the aisle, as his wheelchair would make it awkward. Keep in mind that this is her flesh and blood who raised her. It’s unnerving to discard empathy in the hopes of making your wedding Disney perfect. Especially when it comes to your dad.

14. You’re Being Misleading

Year: 2021
Credit: u/Ideal-Mind3099

The red flare saying “a-hole” does not lie, especially when it comes to this post. In it, a woman told her new co-worker that he was “misleading” people by wearing a wedding band when he’s a widower.

First of all, when someone tells you their spouse died, you really shouldn’t say much other than offering condolences. Telling this poor man he needs to chuck his Zales out the window so he can attract new women is peak insensitive.
