As pet owners, we want to give our furry friends the finer things in life, but some people go way beyond a pet bed or a designated spot on the couch. Some dogs have homes that are more expensive than the one you’re sitting in now, while some cats are so spoiled they don’t know which way is up.

These incredible interiors deserve their very own Netflix home decor documentary. From gardens for groundhogs to al dente dining for squirrels, it’s amazing what great lengths humans will go to – and just how much they will spend – to keep their animal companions happy.

1. Hamster Bartender

Designed by: Kosuke Sato
Est. Cost:
$200*

The wonderful world of pet palaces isn’t just limited to larger animals like dogs. In fact, anyone with a fluffy tail can take a seat at the bar of a Japanese hamster called Ginji. Not only does Ginji have his very own microphone for karaoke time thanks to his owner Kosuke Sato, but he also has miniature sushi and a fully-stocked bar.

Quite frankly, this hamster is living his best life. Interestingly, Sato is actually a tombstone salesman by day, so perhaps after a long shift at the office a trip to Gingji’s bar is just the thing to cheer him up. We bet this little guy always has a bottle of Bud close to paw.

2. Azuki Goes Camping

Designed by: Shuichi Tsunoda
Est. Cost:
$30 – $100*

There are some things in life that are sent from heaven to grace our eyeballs, turning a bad day into a day you’ll never forget. This is one of those things. Shuichi Tsunoda is a professional photographer, but above all else, a hedgehog owner. This strange combination resulted in some of the sweetest photos you’re ever likely to see: Azuki’s camping trip.

These shots are beyond whimsical and charming. Tsunoda set Azuki up with a cooler, a camping chair, and even a folding table. If prints of this were available on Etsy we would snap them up in a heartbeat. Amazingly, this entire shoot was sponsored by camping company Coleman, who made miniature versions of its lifesize equipment, especially for this spikey fellow.

3. 1118 Woof Ranch

Designed by: Alejandro and Sara Pijuan
Est. Cost:
$3,500*

Dogs love spending time outdoors, but it can get a little annoying when you constantly have to bounce up and down to let them in and out. Why not spend a couple of thousand on this incredible structure designed by Alejandro and Sara Pijuan? You never know, your pooch might want to spend a little more time in the yard once they see it.

Known as 1118 Woof Ranch, this wonderful doggy home is both stylish and self-sufficient, as the rain gutter works to water the plant pot. You know what they say, happy dog, happy life, so you might want to hop on GOOGLE and see about making a purchase.

4. Kitty Treehouse

Designed by: Alex Brooks
Est. Cost:
$40,000*

Sometimes, DIY projects start off small before getting bigger and bigger. In this case, what was a little enclosed hut quickly expanded into a huge tower and cat run. Thankfully, Alex Brooks managed to do all the work himself so he would have saved some money on labor, at least.

Now, his cats can run around in the fresh air without getting perilously close to a road or upsetting the birds in the trees. It’s the best of both worlds for kitties and their owner, who can now rest assured they won’t get hurt while taking in the sights and sounds of the neighborhood.

5. The Private Gerbil Museum

Designed by: Reddit user mariannabe
Est. Cost:
$50* (and a lot of time)

If hamsters can go to bars, then gerbils can visit museums. Reddit user mariannabe shared a sweet video last year of their pint-sized pets taking a stroll through a lovely handmade gallery. The owners painstakingly crafted a pretty realistic set using paper and cardboard. It just goes to show, gerbils can be cultured, too.

This project wouldn’t have been all that expensive to make with bits and bobs from sites like eBay, but it would have taken a lot of time. That’s precious hours they won’t ever get back, but it was more than worth it for the wholesome content.

6. The Cats’ House

Designed by: Bob Walker and Frances Mooney
Est. Cost:
$20,000*

It’s always heartwarming when people put their pets first, isn’t it? That’s exactly what Bob Walker and Frances Mooney did when they took on their first home in San Diego back in 1986. Instead of letting their 10 cats use the floor like everyone else, they decided to put specially designed cat runs all over the place.

That way, the felines can roam from room to room and hang out whenever they want. Of course, these continuous additions aren’t always cheap and can add up over time. The Walkers eventually sold their home, but it’s unlikely the new owners kept their fixings.

7. Hecate Verona Dog Mansions

Designed by: Hecate Verona
Est. Cost:
$170,000*

Can you imagine ever having enough money in the bank to seriously consider buying a $170,000 dog house? It’s not something that most of us would ever even think existed, but Hecate Verona is here to prove us wrong. These ultra-exclusive dog kennels cost an arm, a leg, and a tail.

With names like “Colonial Villa Grand” and “Roman Imperial Mansion,” these houses are for the elitist dogs ever to roam God’s Green Earth. According to the website, over 3,000 single handcrafted pieces go into creating these doggy palaces, which might explain why they’re so expensive.

8. Pretty in Pink Doggy Boudoir

Designed by: Unknown
Est. Cost:
$12,000*

As much as you love your dogs, would you spend $12,000 on having a bedroom custom-built for them? The very idea might be enough to send your bank manager into meltdown, but for two lucky pups named Bella and Noel, this fantasy became reality.

Each pup was treated to its very own bed complete with a pillow, but perhaps the most striking feature of all is the overwhelmingly pink boudoir aesthetic. This kind of setup wouldn’t look out of place at the home of Hilton heiress Paris.

9. KL CAT Playground

Designed by: Kuala Lumpur Cat Playground
Est. Cost:
$300,000+*

It’s not very often that you see an indoor playground dedicated solely to cats, but that’s exactly what sprang up in Kuala Lumpur, Indonesia, in 2018. The stunning set-up includes all sorts of things for both cats and children to enjoy together, from swings to slides. That way, kids can benefit from the comfort of animals while also having fun.

It’s a win-win situation as cats are notorious attention seekers. Cat cafes are one thing, but a fully immersive world like this with so much vibrancy and straight-up fun? If this is what it’s like to be a kid, we don’t want to be adults.

10. Dog Patio & Playground

Designed by: Aaron Franks
Est. Cost:
$20,000*

Kids love playgrounds and dogs are essentially innocent, playful children, so it makes sense that some owners would go the extra mile and give their pets their very own area. In this case, Aaron Franks splashed the cash on creating an entire doggy-themed patio playground for his pets. It’s bigger than some apartments, with three floors and even a perfect pooch-sized dipping pool.

According to the owner to beat all owners, the dogs love it. It’s not exactly hard to see why Franks’ creation is plastered all over inspiration sites like Pinterest. It’s less of a doggy corner and more of a top-notch example of incredible design.

11. Barkingham Palace

Designed by: Victoria Palmer
Est. Cost:
$2,000-3,000*

What do you get when you happen to have an old shed doing nothing in the backyard and three very spoiled pooches in need of new digs? Barkingham Palace. Victoria Palmer decided to transform the beaten-up old structure in her California garden by making it into a mansion fit for royalty – or, in this case, Fuzz, Bruiser, and Marvin.

Even Amazon’s Jeff Bezos would have to marvel at the ingenuity here. Not only did Palmer create a balcony, she even created a gallery wall and dainty floral window boxes. Quite frankly, anyone on two legs would be lucky to live here, let alone four.

12. Tiny Animal Restaurant

Designed by: James Vreeland
Est. Cost:
$100*

You don’t need to shell out a small fortune on creating a wonderful dining experience for our animal friends. Just ask Detroit-based brainbox James Vreeland. Most of us might throw out the odd box of birdseed to our friendly neighborhood squirrels, but Vreeland took it one step further.

He set up an entire restaurant on his front lawn, complete with specially-made picnic tables, a menu, and even a little picket fence. Clearly, there was a demand for such an eatery in the area as the bushy-tailed folk came flocking. Take note Yum! Brands. The future is furry.

13. Dog Baywatch

Designed by: Pijuan Designs
Est. Cost:
$2,000.00 *

Some dogs are city dogs, but other dogs don’t like the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle. They long to escape to the shore, to feel the sand on their paws, and the sun in their fur. This sweet little poodle got the vacation home of its dreams when it landed this sweet little shack.

Shaped like a lifeguard stand and complete with a float, this dog is set to enjoy the high life for the rest of its days. Honestly, the expression on the pup’s face says it all. A rad set up like this would even have the cast of Comcast’s Baywatch green with envy.

14. Poncho’s Room

Designed by: Betty McCall
Est. Cost:
$4,000*

When Betty McCall was trying to figure out a way to keep her dog Poncho calm around visitors, the first thing that sprung to mind was creating a safe space. After all, that’s what the experts say, right? Lucky Poncho got more than just a crate in a corner. He got a whole room under the stairs.

McCall tasked her carpenters with creating an accessible door with a flap so Poncho could hop in and out as he likes. The best part? This little pup has his very own brass bed, chest of drawers, and even a little piano – purely for decoration, of course. Frankly, Betty deserves her own Netflix design show.
