Weddings are amazing days full of love, light, laughter, and an obscene price tag that stretches into the tens of thousands. However, everyone knows that one of the biggest parts of the day is the bride’s dress. Brides spend months trying to figure out what one they want to wear, but not everyone goes down the traditional route.

From big, blooming Disney princess gowns to lace and even a replica of the female anatomy, these dresses are some of the most unusual and unique to ever make it dowm the aisle. Pink, orange, tissue paper, balloons, you name it – nothing is off the table when it comes to getting hitched.

1. Crazy Cat Lady

Designer: Sanrio
Est. Price: $500-1,000*
Best for: Prowling down the aisle to marry the tomcat of your dreams

It’s no secret that Hello Kitty is a pretty big deal. The small cartoon cat has managed to steal the hearts of fans across the world – so much so that there are some people out there that actually choose to get married in a Hello Kitty-themed wedding dress.

It looks like the designer of this very pink, very ruffled gown is, Sanrio, the company that created Hello Kitty, but sadly it looks like something you’d find on eBay at a bargain price. On the flip side, it could have also been specially made which could give it a price tag reaching into the thousands. But hey, you can’t put a price on purrfection!

2. Take Me to Your Leader

Designer: Comme Des Garcons
Est. Price: $2,500*
Best for: Getting married to an alien lifeform in order to save the human race

Couture fashion can leave us scratching our heads at the best of times, wondering who on earth would wear something that looks like a squirt of shaving foam. However, perhaps we’re missing the point. This Comme Des Garcons wedding dress looks like it’s not built for this world at all.

This is the dress you wear when you’re picked to marry into an alien race to save the rest of mankind. It’s half sacrificial lamb, half futuristic Barbie. You wouldn’t get something like this on Amazon but you would find it on the runway. We don’t fully understand it, either, especially since it’s worth thousands.

3. Up, Up, and Away

Designer: Coco the Clown (probably)
Est. Price: $100*
Best for: Keeping the groom away from you at all times, or taking off before you reach the end of the altar

When it comes to picking the right wedding dress, it’s a very personal thing that can’t be rushed. Some brides go for lace, others go for something else entirely that turns heads. What they don’t usually go for, however, is a dress made of balloons.

We’ve got to admire the ingenuity and determination to make something out of a packet of Target balloons, but we can’t quite wrap our heads around this. Was the bride marrying Coco the Clown, or did she simply want to make a quick getaway before reaching the end of the altar?

4. Tangerine Dreams

Designer: Sondra Celli
Est. Price: $2,000*
Best for: Someone who really loves orange

When it comes to wedding color themes, everyone has their very own ideas about what makes something good. If you don’t like traditional colorways like ivory and navy, then would you ever consider getting a bright orange dress and a bright orange suit?

The answer to that is probably no, but this couple really went all out for their big day. Not only is the wedding dress very elaborate and very orange, but so is the suit as well. You have to hand it to them, it’s a snap that would get a lot of attention on Facebook.

5. Let’s Cut the Cake

Designer: A very good baker
Est. Price: $600*
Best for: Stress eating at the altar

The perfect wedding cake is almost as important as the wedding dress itself, so why not kill two birds with one stone and get something like this made? The only downside is that the cake is literally assembled around it, so if the bride wants out, she’s going to have to eat a tunnel through to the other side.

That doesn’t seem like such a rough deal, does it? Forget about dancing, moving, or greeting guests and just stand still surrounded by delicious layers. Forget taffeta and silk. Who needs that when you’ve got chocolate, vanilla, and buttercream? It certainly beats a store-bought cake from Kroger, doesn’t it?

6. Little Bo Peep I Do

Designer: YSL
Est. Price: $5,000+*
Best for: Walking down the aisle to marry your favorite bowl of curds and whey

Couture fashion strikes again with this dress…if you can call it that! Yves Saint Laurent isn’t exactly a fashion house known to play it safe, so it makes sense that this strange, otherworldly dress is one of their designs. There’s a lot of lace, a lot of puff, and a very intricate headdress to top it all off.

Little Bo Peep would wear this to marry her very favorite bowl of curds and whey, but would anyone else dare squeeze themselves into this, white tights and all? The spray of flowers gives it a very “granny’s favorite porcelain doll” vibe that we just can’t ignore.

7. I Love You Snow Much

Designer: Unknown
Est. Price: $1,500*
Best for: When your future spouse is Jack Frost

Every bride wants to turn heads when they walk down the aisle, but not many want to look like a snowman as they’re doing it. Even those that go for a winter-themed wedding might not stretch to this level of dedication.

We’ve got to hand it to the designer, they really took that Olaf from Disney’s Frozen concept to the next level. It’s almost like a visual puzzle, you don’t know where the bride ends and the dress begins. Still, it’s snow nice to see that the wonderful world of creative fashion is alive and well.

8. Feeling Fruity

Designer: Venera Kazarova
Est. Price: $2,500*
Best for: When you’re feeling fruity on your wedding night

Pineapple is a glorious fruit, but most of us just chop it up and eat it. However, one designer thought that there was far more to be done with pineapple than tradition dictates. This pineapple wedding dress somehow made it to the catwalk, but it’s wrong in so many ways.

Not only is the entire shape a little off, but the back isn’t even fully closed. We find it difficult to believe that any blushing bride would strut down the aisle wearing this one. Even the model paid to walk down the runway looks like she’s having an existential crisis and questioning her career choices.

9. Blooming Hell

Designer: Someone with no shame
Est. Price: $1,000*
Best for: Going forth to wed one’s betrothed

Not only is there a huge market for wedding dresses, but there’s a big demand for wedding lingerie, too. The designer of this one obviously thought it was a better idea to combine the two, with this bloomer dress that Henry the 8th himself may have turned red at the sight of.

There’s plenty of pomp and circumstance to be had at weddings normally, but this dress just adds to the overall jaunty tone of the day. Plus, the bride wouldn’t have to worry about getting undressed at the end of the day as she’s already in her bloomers.

10. A Baaaaaad Choice

Designer: Louise Fairburn
Est. Price: $700*
Best for: fans of Little Bo Peep

Don’t be a sheep and follow the crowd by buying something off the rack like everyone else. Be a sheep by actually being a sheep and getting a dress designer to make you something to match your fluffy fiance.

There’s nothing quite like his-and-hers outfits, and everyone wants to match their groom on their wedding day. Some people opt for coordinating pocket squares and flowers, but not this couple. They go big or go home…or in this case, back to the barn where they can chow down on grass all the livelong day.

11. The Dress That Took Over

Designer: Thelma Madine*
Est. Price: $2,000*
Best for: Squashing your fiance and collecting life insurance before the honeymoon

We’ve all watched our fair share of movies growing up, where brides wear huge gowns and yet somehow look ethereal and elegant. In reality, big gowns are nothing but a nuisance that can really hinder the day and be a logistical nightmare.

In this case, the bride wanted to look like a Disney princess but ended up looking like a toilet paper holder. Her groom, on the other hand, looks like he’s trying to hatch an escape plan as soon as the carriage stops. Did he ever make it out alive, or was he swallowed whole by The Blob? It’s a mystery for the modern age.

12. He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not

Designer: A very talented florist
Est. Price: $1,000*
Best for: Masking the smell of a nervous stomach

Flowers are a big part of any wedding, with the average budget for a florist coming in at around $1,500. Of course, that’s just for your bog-standard arrangements and the bride’s bouquet. If you decide that you want to wear the flowers, then it’s going to cost you a darn sight more.

While it’s probably not practical to walk down the aisle in a perishable dress made from real blooms, the pictures would look amazing. Plus, you wouldn’t have to worry about masking the smell of your nervous stomach as you walk down the aisle and can even do “He loves me, he loves me not” as you go, just to be sure.

13. Are You Kitten Us?!

Designer: Unknown
Est. Price: $9,000-$10,000*
Best for: Cat lovers

Cat lovers take their kitties along everywhere, even in places where they shouldn’t. So we cannot judge this bride for channeling her cat-loving feelings in her wedding dress by adorning it with a cat-shaped sculpture that seems perched on top of a chair.

Are You Kitten Us?! @TheSunOnline/Pinterest Are You Kitten Us?! @TheSunOnline/Pinterest

The wedding dress looks like it was taken straight out of a Disney movie until you spot the cat in the front and something written in a cute font on the bottom that we reckon is her cat’s name. The cat in question, however, is nowhere to be seen in the picture.

14. All That Glitters Is Not Gold

Designer: Unknown
Est. Price: $900-$1000*
Best for: Gold lovers

The woman in this picture made the questionable choice of going for a gold-colored dress for her wedding and then decided to go overboard with an already overboard color. The result? A dress that you shouldn’t look directly at without safety sunglasses.

All That Glitters Is Not Gold @TheSunOnline/Pinterest All That Glitters Is Not Gold @TheSunOnline/Pinterest

The bride’s golden dress, with the matching golden flower bouquet, is good for nothing but blinding a perfectly normal person under the sun’s glare. The dress below her torso has a flare of its own and it seems like it was made with unhinged golden pieces of cloth tied together haphazardly by someone in a rush. The silver jewelry and tiara do nothing to tone down the outfit but rather stick out like an eyesore.
