If there’s one thing the biggest stars love to splurge on, it’s a custom-made mansion. Celebrity real estate tends to be a fairly huge industry all on its own, with many A-listers buying up land just to turn it around for an even bigger profit. Other celebs use their millions to craft a true one-of-a-kind home that carries their own personal stamp.

Indeed, many of the world’s most incredible (and incredibly expensive) mansions are practically extensions of their owners. Most stars play a pretty large hand when it comes to architecture and interior design, too. Either way, the luxury manors on this list are some of the most jaw-droppingly gorgeous and unique slices of real estate we’ve ever seen. You’ve gotta hand it to these celebs: they’ve got taste where it counts!

1. George Clooney’s Villa Oleandra

Value: $100 Million
Location: Laglio, Italy
Highlight: The Pizza Room

Oscar-winning actor George Clooney has one heck of a summer home. Known as “Villa Oleandra,” this gorgeous manor is located on the banks of Lake Como in Laglio, Italy. Clooney reportedly spotted it from afar during a motorcycle trip through the Alps – and immediately approached the owner to buy it. At $100 million, it’s easily one of the most expensive slivers of celebrity real estate on the planet.

But Clooney’s gone even further, investing millions into renovating the interior. Much of the original 18th century-era architecture remains intact, though. Shortly after buying it in the early 2000s, Clooney went ahead and bought the villa next door, too. The two mansions are connected by the Riva Soldano bridge, with the lake running below.

2. Jay Z and Beyoncé’s Mansion

Value: $88 Million
Location: Bel Air, CA
Highlight: Bulletproof Windows

The king and queen of music known as Jay-Z and Beyoncé made a whopper of a real estate investment in 2017. They bought this brand-new, fully furnished mega-mansion located in the sunny hills of Bel-Air, California. They paid $88 million against a $135 asking price – but when you’re Beyoncé, you probably get what you want.

This ultra-modern dream home was designed by legendary developer Dean McKillen. The most notable features are obviously its plateau-driven deco design. The elevated terraces accompany a full basketball court, four pools, and tons of health rooms. Oh, and by the way, every pane of glass in the house is bulletproof. Not that the Carters are paranoid or anything.

3. Drake’s Toronto Manor House

Value: $100 million*
Location: Toronto, Canada
Highlight: The Studio Lounge

Drake is one of the biggest recording artists of all time. Because of his sterling reputation and hit records, he’s worth an incredible $150 million. He’s put a lot of that fortune into creating a sprawling Toronto estate in his hometown.

The manor house is worth an estimated $100 million and is tricked out with some incredibly chic art deco decor. The piece de resistance? Drake’s studio lounge that’s lit with beautiful brown agate stones. It really doesn’t come much bigger than this. After all, Drake does consider it his ‘legacy.’

4. Robert Downey Jr.’s Windmill House

Value: $13.5 Million
Location: The Hamptons, NY
Highlight: Living Inside a 19th Century Windmill

Yes, it’s true. Robert Downey Jr. lives inside a huge, real-life windmill. The actor and his wife bought this bizarre slice of history the instant it hit the market. Up until it was their private home, it was known as the historic DeRose Windmill House. Downey Jr. bought the manor a few years ago and completely modernized the interior in just 6 weeks.

As you can see, though, the charming exterior seems almost perfectly preserved in history. Except for the huge, green praying mantis sculpture in the front yard (go figure). The home was originally intended to be a children’s playroom. But never ones for normalcy, the Downeys transformed it into fun for the whole family. There’s even a massive bathroom adorned with purple polka dots!

5. Oprah Winfrey’s Mansion, “The Promised Land”

Value: $90 Million
Location: Montecito, CA
Highlight: Man-Made Fishing Lakes

Complete with ten fireplaces, a massive library, and hundreds of rose bushes, Oprah’s private manor is said to be her private getaway from public life. Oprah named this mansion “The Promised Land” in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King and his famous words.

As important as the mansion’s plush decadence is its connection to nature. Oprah reportedly designed an impressive tea room to be a private getaway to connect her to the natural world. The many orchards and natural access further give it a very Secret Garden feel. The entire perimeter includes 42 acres of real estate, and there’s also private ocean access. Did we mention she had several lakes built and filled with fish just in case any guests want to go fishing?

6. Tom Cruise’s Mansion

Value: $59 Million
Location: Telluride, CO
Highlight: Private Motocross Trail

Action star Tom Cruise has a home just as rugged as he is: a gorgeous mansion tucked into the mountains near Telluride. It sports some of the most gorgeous natural beauty you can buy for $59 million. This includes a private trail for motocross, horse stables, and panorama views of the mountains.

This fancy slice of real estate also sports a private helipad on the grounds. Just in case Cruise needs to attend a Hollywood meeting immediately – or perhaps practice a helicopter-based action sequence. Who knows! The interior sports seven bedrooms (with nine bathrooms), and boasts several game rooms and libraries. Think of it as an expensive log cabin. A very very very expensive log cabin.

7. Bill Gates’ Xanadu 2.0

Value: $125 Million
Location: Medina, WA
Highlight: The Trampoline Room

Bill Gates is one of the rare billionaires who seems almost like a totally normal person. He waits in line for his fast food just like the next guy. Well, the same cannot be said of his mega-mansion – the aptly named Xanadu 2.0. It may be the most expensive and extravagant celebrity home on Earth. The home boasts some of the most cutting-edge technology ever made.

The floors are pressure-sensitive, keeping track of visitors’ location using a hi-tech monitoring system. And there’s good reason to keep track of them: the estate itself is a whopping 66,000 square feet. That doesn’t include the estate’s beachfront access. Unhappy with the beach’s native Washington sand, Gates paid millions to import sand from the Caribbeans and line his beach with it.

8. Rihanna’s Mansion

Value: $21.8 Million
Location: Barbados
Highlight: Private Caribbean Beachfront Access

Pop superstar Rihanna owns a ton of real estate across the world. But the one with the biggest price tag – and our favorite, anyway – is undeniably her $21.8 million home in Barbados. Rihanna fell in love with the manor after renting it to visit her family. She purchased it within the year. Located right on one of the most gorgeous beach spots in the Caribbean, this exclusive getaway is designed by Rihanna for personal family time.

It can accommodate nearly her entire family. As you might imagine, it also comes with all the essentials for a superstar pop idol: a massive gym, round-the-clock service, and more balconies than you can shake your hips at. Considering Rihanna grew up in Barbados, we can imagine this home holds a very special personal significance to her.

9. Kim Kardashian’s Mansion

Value: $60 Million
Location: Hidden Hills, CA
Highlight: Lots of Empty Space

Nestled in one of the biggest celebrity neighborhoods is the home of Kim Kardashian. And with a $60 million price tag, most would agree that it puts most of the other mansions on the block to shame. But apart from the price is another distinguishing feature about this luxury home: it’s filled with lots and lots of… Nothing. Kim took a decidedly minimalist approach to her interior decorating.

The pale walls, hardwood floors, and absence of just about any artwork or personal effects only add to the vacuum of it all. But they’ve put this space to good use when it comes time for the holidays, completely transforming the inside to throw celebrity Christmas parties and birthday celebrations.

10. George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch

Value: $100 Million
Location: Marin County, CA
Highlight: No Pictures Allowed Inside!

The notoriously private home of Star Wars creator George Lucas shares the same family name as the galaxy’s greatest Jedi. But the Skywalker Ranch isn’t just Lucas’ luxury home – it’s also his office, and formerly the headquarters of his many film, sound, and digital effects companies.

The estate itself is hidden out of the public eye somewhere in Marin County, California. Anyone lucky enough to be invited inside isn’t allowed to take photos (though Lucas has, in the past, allowed magazines to peruse the Ranch). But if you are lucky enough to see it, you’re apparently in for quite a treat. Half of the estate houses the technology that gave birth to some of Lucas’ most incredible technical achievements.

11. Gérard Depardieu’s Parisian Townhouse

Value: $65 million*
Location: Paris, France
Highlight: 20,000 square feet of space

Gérard Depardieu is known throughout the world for his impeccable talent, so when news broke that he was selling his $65-million-dollar Parisian townhouse, fans were interested. The actor decided to sell the stunning abode on Paris’ left bank in 2012.

Not only does the house have a ton of space, but it has important historical significance, too. It’s registered as a historical monument, but the interior is deceptively modern. There is also plenty of outside space, including gardens and courtyards.

12. John Travolta’s Jumbolair

Value: $170 Million
Location: Ocala, Florida
Highlight: A Functioning Airport

Sure, some celebrity mansions have a few more bells and whistles than others. But how many also function as an actual airport? This happens to be the case for John Travolta’s unique (and ungodly expensive) home – known as the Jumbolair Airport. Located near Ocala in Florida, the property has two runways. Travolta purchased the property in order to house and operate his private planes, including his own 707, which he is licensed to fly.

The interior of the actual home is a strange hybrid of midcentury style and… well, an airport. Travolta did, however, make a few improvements in the form of a game room and several Deco-influenced interior flourishes. He donated his 707 a few years ago, but for all we know, Travolta’s coming in for a landing right now as we speak.

13. Will Smith’s Mansion

Value: $42 Million
Location: Calabasas, CA
Highlight: Recording Studio

The former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is currently the king of Calabasas with his mega-huge $42 million mansion. Construction reportedly took seven years to finish. Smith and his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, personally oversaw the entire design from scratch themselves. The result is a gorgeous blend of modern design with African influence.

Everything from the furniture to the slope of each individual wall is suited for maximum texture and flow. Did we mention the man-made lake and gazebo? It also houses Smith’s own private recording studio. We can only assume he’s in there at this very minute, recording a surprise new rap album with DJ Jazzy Jeff.

14. Tiger Woods’ Mansion

Value: $54.5 Million
Location: Jupiter Island, FL
Highlight: Custom-Made Putting Greens

Ever wonder how golfing legend Tiger Woods became a PGA champion? Well, it may have something to do with the athlete’s million-dollar, custom-designed golf course right on his own private estate. Construction took years to finish. This truly tricked-out manor boasts some of the craziest add-ons you can imagine. This includes an oxygen therapy room and beachfront access to Woods’ private yacht.

Only one problem, though. The entire estate is built on a particularly problematic part of the Florida mainland that is continually impacted by global warming. As a result, the manor itself has been known to sink into the ground once in a while. A costly solution is usually found. But as Florida continues to sink, how long will Tiger’s mansion hold up? Yikes.
