When it comes to partying, celebrities and A-listers are no strangers to having a good time. However, everyone knows that a lavish party needs one vital ingredient to make it a success: a truly show-stopping cake. Luckily, there are bakers out there that can work pure magic with flour, eggs, sugar, and a sheet of fondant.

It doesn’t matter what the occasion is, from weddings to kids’ birthday parties, these celebs have spared no expense when it comes to ordering custom cakes from the best in the business. Most of us might pick up a tray of cupcakes from Kroger, but when you’re Warren Buffet, that just won’t cut it.

1. Alex Rodriguez

Occasion: 44th birthday
Made by: Divine Delicacies Cakes

Baseball legend Alex Rodriguez, aka A-Rod, is one of the most revered sports icons in history. He’s also the other half of one of Hollywood’s biggest power couples, having put a ring on J-Lo’s finger in 2019. Later that same year, A-Rod turned 44 and Jennifer didn’t let it go by unnoticed.

While most of us might make do with a cake from Walmart, A-Rod’s was slightly more intricate. The birthday party cake was 4-tiers of baseball-themed goodness, likely costing hundreds – if not thousands – of dollars. The cake was the work of the aptly named Divine Delicacies Cakes.

2. Nicki Minaj

Occasion: 26th birthday
Made by: Gimme Some Sugar

Rap sensation Nicki Minaj has been a famous face for longer than some of us might realize. Back in 2010, she turned 26 and threw a big birthday bash at Tao in Las Vegas to celebrate. As you might expect, plenty of celebrities were in attendance. As a result, Nicki had to get a cake to impress.

Made by Gimme Some Sugar, the four-tier blinged-out creation was exactly Nicki’s style, with a large fondant bow on the front and even a little Nicki sat on the top. The Tencent Universal artist took plenty of pictures next to the impressive bake, inspiring countless others to order something similar (but probably cheaper) for their celebrations.

3. Paris Hilton

Occasion: 39th birthday
Made by: Betchin Cakes

Paris Hilton may have been all over our screens in the noughties thanks to her reality show The Simple Life, but she’s still been busy making money moves and keeping up her social life in the years since. For her 39th birthday in 2020, the heiress partied the night away with pals like Kim Kardashian in Beverly Hills.

Of course, the cake was just as extra as Paris. Hilton happily showed off the Betchin Cakes creation on Instagram, dazzling her followers with its Barbie/Paris decoration that included a jeweled phone, computer, and miniature bottle of vodka.

4. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

Occasion: Their wedding
Made by: Claire Ptak

When Meghan and Harry tied the knot back in 2018, no one could have predicted the media storm and subsequent drama. At the time, it was a moment of huge celebration, and, just like with any other royal wedding, special thought went into making the cake.

Claire Ptak of Violet’s Bakery in London was charged with making the Spring-themed cake that was decorated with real flowers. Much like Meghan’s wedding dress, the cake itself was simple and elegant. If the photos on Pinterest are anything to go by, it was delicious, too.

5. Dan Levy

Occasion: 36th birthday
Made by: Aggie’s Bakery

Schitt’s Creek may have disappeared from our screens with the final season released in 2020, but that doesn’t stop us from looking back at the comedy series through rose-tinted glasses. Not only did fans love the show, but the actors had a blast, too.

Co-creator and star Dan Levy shared a photo of his impressive Schitt’s Creek-themed 36th birthday cake back in 2019 on Instagram. The huge motel-shaped dessert was made by Milwaukee’s Aggie’s Bakery. Needless to say, the entire cast, including Dan’s dad Eugue, was more than happy.

6. Warren Buffet

Occasion: 90th birthday
Made by: Bill Gates

What do you get the billionaire that has everything when he turns 90? There’s not much to choose from, but Bill Gates proved that he’s the gift that keeps on giving in 2020. The Microsoft founder filmed himself baking an Oreo-flavored cake for his friend Warren Buffet’s special day.

The YouTube clip shows Gates donning an apron and getting handy in the kitchen to create a rather impressive cake with Warren’s face on it. It’s a great way to wish someone a happy birthday, especially when they really don’t need anything else.

7. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

Occasion: Wedding
Made by: Hansen Cakes

Kim Kardashian has been married three times, including once to Kris Humphries. The wedding took place in 2011 and, as you may imagine, was a huge showbiz affair that cost an alleged $10 million dollars. The cake itself was a showstopper designed by Hansen Cakes.

The towering black and white masterpiece was a sight to behold, but considering how many guests Kim and Kris had at the wedding, its size is hardly surprising. The couple sadly split two years later, with Kim going on to marry Tencent Universal artist Kanye West in 2014.

8. Kelly Clarkson

Occasion: 36th birthday
Made by: Big Sugar Bake Shop

Kelly Clarkson stole hearts when she won American Idol in 2002, going on to become one of the country’s sweethearts. In 2018, Kelly turned 36 and was given not one, but two cakes. While one was themed like The Voice in a nod to her seat on the judging panel, the other was entirely different.

Made by Big Sugar Bake Shop, the quilting-themed cake was nothing short of incredible. Complete with scissors, balls of yarn, and even a tape measure, the cake paid homage to Kelly’s hobby. In case you haven’t guessed, when she’s not releasing records with Sony, Kelly likes to make quilts!

9. Queen Elizabeth

Occasion: 90th birthday
Made by: Nadiya Hussain

Whenever Queen Elizabeth II has a birthday, it’s a big deal because of her status. However, when the Queen turned 90 in 2016, it was an especially momentous occasion. Liz likes a birthday cake just as much as the next person, but the choice of baker might surprise you.

Instead of selecting a well-established company to craft the cake, the Royals chose Nadiya Hussain, winner of 2015’s Great British Bake-Off. Nadiya’s purple and gold creation was the subject of much scrutiny, but it’s better than something whipped up from a packet of Betty Crocker!

10. Christina Aguilera

Occasion: Birthday
Made by: Hansen’s Cakes

Christina Aguilera has been topping the charts for years now, but she also knows how to throw a decent party. In 2011, Xtina celebrated her birthday with a host of famous faces in Hollywood, California. Cake maker to the stars Hansen’s Cakes took on the task of creating Marie Antionette-inspired masterpiece.

The result was truly astonishing. The fun decoration wasn’t lost on Aguilera, who posed for a couple of shots next to the incredible creation. It’s likely the cost of the cake rocketed into the thousands, but when you’re a star you can afford something a little better than a traybake from Kroger!

11. Cardi B

Occasion: Daughter’s 1st birthday
Made by: Unknown

When rapper Cardi B throws a party, she doesn’t spare any expense – especially when it comes to her daughter, Kulture. In 2019, Cardi and her husband Offset reportedly shelled out over $400,000 on a “Onederful” first birthday party for the tot.

While it’s not immediately clear who made the cake, it was a towering multi-colored work of wonder, with five different patterned layers. The bakery also created macarons, candy apples, and matching other sweet treats, making this a birthday that Kulture will remember – or at least appreciate when she looks back at iPhone photos!

12. Gigi Hadid

Occasion: 25th birthday
Made by: Buddy Valastro

As one of the most popular supermodels on the planet in recent years, it’s totally normal for Gigi Hadid’s birthday cake to be visually pleasing. For her 25th birthday, Gigi was presented with a cake made by celebrity baker Buddy Valastro.

It’s not every day you see a cake shaped like a bagel. Either way, it’s as stunning to look at as Hadid’s magazine covers. The sprinkles on the top look exactly like seasoning, while the cream in the middle could be cream cheese! They called Valastro the Cake Boss for a reason!

13. Carrie Underwood

Occasion: Son’s 6th birthday
Made by: Ivey Cake of Brentwood, TN

Country sensation Carrie Underwood has made over $100 million dollars from her music career since winning American Idol in 2005, becoming one of the show’s biggest successes. So, when it comes to treating her family, Underwood isn’t afraid to splash the cash.

This incredible Power Rangers cake was crafted by Ivey Cake of Brentwood, TN for her son’s 6th birthday. The two-tier colorful creation wouldn’t have cost thousands, but it certainly looks the part. Judging by the rest of the decor, it looks like someone’s a fan of the Fox show!

14. George Clooney

Occasion: Wedding
Made by: Roberto Ramperti

For many years, fans were left wondering when Hollywood heartthrob would finally settle down. While he wed actress Talia Balsam in 1989, the couple split by 1993. Clooney eventually found his soulmate in human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin and said “I do” for the second time in 2014.

The celebrations happened in Venice, Italy, and to say no expense was spared would be an understatement. The cake itself was designed by Roberto Ramperti and almost stole the show. The Art-Deco-inspired masterpiece consisted of four enormous tiers and was large enough to serve the entire city, let alone the wedding party.
