When it comes to big ideas, there’s always a chance that something will go wrong, even if there are millions or billions of dollars being thrown at the problem. As Murphy’s Law goes, things are always more drawn to chaos than order.
This is why throughout human history there have been epic catastrophes, from sinking submarines to broken bridges, failed rocket launches to broken priceless heirlooms. Some of these occurrences could have been avoided, while others were totally inevitable.
Most of the mistakes on this list were fixable to some extent, while others such as the failed launch of Elon Musk’s SpaceX rocket were utter catastrophes, but what all of these epic failures have in common is that they (hopefully) set an example of what not to do.
