Finding love as a celebrity can be a tricky road, especially when all eyes are on you. These A-listers have managed to forge solid relationships that prove that love really is love, no matter what way you look at it. 

From Lily Tomlin’s incredible lifelong romance with her wife to Kal Penn’s recently revealed engagement to fiance, Josh. These celebrities are a light in their industries and make a lasting impression. Let’s take a look at some of these iconic power couples, along with one or two that recently parted ways after making their mark on the world.

1. Jodie Foster and Alexandra Hedison

Together: 2013 – present
Est. Net Worth: $101.5 million*

Jodie Foster is notoriously private, opting to keep her personal life out of the public eye. Considering that she has been in the entertainment business for the majority of her life, you can’t blame her for keeping something to herself.

Foster didn’t publically address her sexuality until 2007, although she had been in a relationship with Cydney Bernard openly from 1993 to 2008. Five years after splitting from Bernard, she met photographer, Alexandra Hedison. Foster married Ellen DeGeneres’ ex in 2014. The pair have been happily unified ever since and are frequently spotted out and about together.

2. Jim Parsons and Todd Spiewak

Together: 2002 – present
Est. Net Worth: $167 million*

When The Big Bang Theory burst onto our screens some years ago, it made instant stars out of its cast. Jim Parsons shone as the eccentric genius, Sheldon Cooper. The actor first started dating art director Todd Spiewak in 2002, before tying the knot in 2017.

Parsons has been quoted talking about his relationship in the past. “It’s an act of love, coffee in the morning, going to work, washing the clothes, taking the dogs out – a regular life, boring love,” he explained. Parsons may be worth $160 million, but his husband doesn’t have to raid the piggy bank. Spiewak is worth $7 million on his own.

3. Billy Porter and Adam Smith

Together: 2015 – 2023
Est. Net Worth: $7 million*

Broadway star Billy Porter and his businessman ex-lover Adam Smith finally tied the knot in 2017, but it wasn’t always an easy road. The pair first met at a dinner in 2009, going on to date for a year before splitting in 2010. They remained friends for years, with Porter calling Smith “The one that got away.”

Eventually, they both declared their love for each other and rekindled their romance in 2015. Porter popped the question to his longtime love in a London restaurant. Thankfully Smith said yes, but it hasn’t been sunshine and roses ever since. The pair split in 2023 after six years of marriage. Porter continues to act, while Smith runs a designer eyewear company.

4. Ellen Degeneres and Portia De Rossi

Together: 2004 – present
Est. Net Worth: $470 million*

Ellen DeGeneres had a tough time when she came out in the late ‘90s, a move that had a negative effect on her career. Thankfully, everything worked out well in the end. The talk show host met Ally McBeal actress Portia De Rossi in 2004 after meeting backstage at an awards show.

The couple refused to get engaged until the state of California overturned its same-sex marriage ban. When the state lifted the law, they were quick to make the commitment and got married at their home in 2008. De Rossi appeared on Ellen for DeGeneres’ 60th birthday, gifting her a wildlife foundation in her name.

5. Sarah Paulson and Holland Taylor

Together: 2015 – present
Est. Net Worth: $28 million*

American Horror Story actress Sarah Paulson came under intense scrutiny when her relationship with actress Holland Taylor became public in 2015. Many thought that the age gap (Taylor is 32 years Paulson’s senior at 76 years old) was too much.

The 43-year-old actress addressed the issue during an interview with the Sunday Times. “I think a lot of people have a stunted way of looking at older people, it’s a way of distancing themselves from something they think will not happen to them,” she explained. “I have the good fortune of being with someone who is older and wiser than I am.”

6. Jane Lynch and Jennifer Cheyne

Together: 2018 – present
Est. Net Worth: $16 million*

Jane Lynch is ingrained in our memories as coach Sue Sylvester from Glee, but in reality, she’s much nicer than she appears on-screen. The actress was previously married to psychologist Lara Embry from 2010 to 2014 before she met her current partner Jennifer Cheyne.

In a heartfelt interview on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Golden Globe winner Jane Lynch reflected on her unexpected courthouse wedding to partner Jennifer Cheyne. The decision, driven by practicality, turned profoundly emotional. Lynch, described the ceremony, officiated by Cheyne’s son, as unexpectedly touching, shedding tears of joy.

7. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka

Together: 2004 – present
Est. Net Worth: $43 million*

Little Doogie Howser grew up to be a fine man. Neil Patrick Harris experienced a career revival thanks to his role as Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother. His rekindled fame forced him to publicly address his sexuality, telling the media he was a “very content gay man.”

During an appearance on Ellen, Harris revealed that he had been in a relationship with his then-fiance David Burtka since 2004. The couple have gone from strength to strength since, welcoming a son and a daughter in 2010 before saying “I do” in a private ceremony in Italy in 2014.

8. Wanda and Alex Sykes

Together: 2006 – present
Est. Net Worth: $6 million*

Wanda Sykes has had us in stitches for years, thanks to her superb comic timing. Due to her conservative upbringing, the actress had trouble accepting her own sexuality and didn’t come out until 2008, ten years after the end of her marriage to Dave Hall. By that point, Sykes had already found love with French woman Alex Niedbalski.

The couple had been married for a month when Sykes made the announcement at a same-sex marriage rally in Las Vegas. Little is known about Alex, but they both look incredibly happy together and can often be spotted hand in hand on the red carpet.

9. Jillian Michaels and Deshanna Marie Minuto

Together: 2018 – present
Est. Net Worth: $16 million*

Pint-sized personal trainer and fitness guru Jillian Michaels has been very vocal about her preferences when it comes to love. “Let’s just say I believe in healthy love. If I fall in love with a woman, that’s awesome. If I fall in love with a man, that’s awesome,” she explained.

After splitting from her longtime fiancé, Michaels moved on to find that “healthy love” with fashion designer Deshanna Marie Minuto. The pair often share sweet selfies on their respective Instagram pages and go on multiple trips together. The pair tied the knot in the summer of 2022.

10. George and Brad Takei

Together: 1987 – present
Est. Net Worth: $60 million*

There are fewer icons more well-liked than Star Trek alum George Takei. The actor didn’t come out to the public until later in life, first talking about his sexuality in 2005. Takei didn’t exactly keep his sexuality hidden though, as many of his friends and former co-stars knew. He explained that this significant other was Brad Altman, whom he had been dating since 1987.

Brad and George finally made things official when they got married in 2008, having been together for over 20 years. Both men are outspoken activists in the fight for LGBTQ rights and frequently attend rallies and speak at events, hoping to help the cause.

11. David Furnish and Sir Elton John

Together: 1993 – present
Est. Net Worth: $550 million*

David Furnish and Sir Elton John are possibly the most famous same-sex couple in the world. Not only are they both extremely successful in their own right, but they’re also godparents to Victoria Beckham’s kids. Their celebrity knows no bounds!

They first started dating in 1993 and patiently waited it out until the Civil Partnership Act was enforced in the UK in 2005, but the main event happened in 2014 when gay marriage became legal. By this point in their lives, the two stars had already welcomed sons Zachary and Elijah via a surrogate mother.

12. RuPaul Charles and Georges LeBar

Together: 1994 – present
Est. Net Worth: $61.5 million*

In the words of RuPaul himself, “If you don’t love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else?” The drag artist has made a name for himself with his singing career and his hit TV show, but he couldn’t have done it without his Australian partner Georges LeBar.

The couple first met in 1994 during a trip to the Limelight Club in the Big Apple. There was an instant connection. LeBar, an artist and ranch owner, married Charles in 2017. Charles credits his relationship with helping him stay off of mind-altering substances for over 20 years.

13. Tan and Rob France

Est. Net Worth: $3 million*

As a member of the hit Netflix reboot Queer Eye’s “Fab Five”, Tan is out and proud. But his confidence as a gay man didn’t always translate to success in the dating world. As a Muslim who sticks to his faith and doesn’t drink, he found it difficult to casually date.

Enter Rob France, whom Tan met through a dating app in 2008. The two hit it off right away, as Rob is a devout Mormon who also abstains from alcohol. After ten years together, they decided to get married, realizing that it was obvious that neither of them was going anywhere.

14. Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita

Together: 2010 – present
Est. Net Worth: $20 million*

Jesse Tyler Ferguson has warmed our hearts and tickled our funny bones with his portrayal of Mitchell Pritchett in Modern Family. In the show, The actor announced his engagement to Justin Mikita in 2012 after dating for two years.

Things have gone swimmingly for this power couple since they tied the knot and welcomed their first child together in July 2020 and their second in November 2022. Ferguson has previously said he had to tell his father he was gay three times before it really sunk in, over the course of 4 years.
