White House is set to extend Jones Act waiver in coming days, according to a Reuters report Tuesday.

The Jones Act requires that cargo moving between U.S. ports is carried on ships built in the U.S. and owned by U.S. companies and crewed by American workers.
The oil industry had expected an extension by the end of July.

Freedom Broker Upgrades ExxonMobil (XOM) to Hold

Freedom Broker analyst Sergey Pigarev upgraded ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM) from Sell to Hold with a price target of $142.00 (from $130.00).

The analyst comments "The largest U.S. integrated oil and gas company, ExxonMobil (XOM), delivered exceptionally strong second-quarter results, driven by higher oil prices and significantly stronger refining margins. Net debt declined by an impressive $7.4 billion during the quarter, while the company repurchased $5.1 billion of its shares. We raise our price target from $130 to $142 per share on the back of stronger-than-expected results and the prolonged Middle East conflict, and upgrade our recommendation to Hold. "

Mizuho analyst Nitin Kumar reiterated a Neutral rating and $170.00 price target on ExxonMobil (NYSE: XOM).

The analyst commented: "XOM delivered relatively in-line adjusted EPS of $3.52 (excluding timing effects and identified items), but CFPS beat MSUSA/Street expectations by ~15%. Total global production came in ~7% above estimates with non-Middle East assets accounting for ~4.1 mmboe/d. This was headlined by ~1.8 mmboe/d of production in the Permian - on pace for ~9% CAGR by 2030. ExxonMobil Q2 profit falls short of forecasts, shares slide

Investing.com -- ExxonMobil shares slid around 2% in premarket trading Friday after the U.S. energy major reported earnings for the second quarter that missed average analyst forecasts.

The company posted earnings per share (EPS) of $3.52, below the analyst consensus of $3.60. Total adjusted earnings rose to $14.68 billion for the quarter from $8.77 billion a year earlier.

"The second quarter was shaped by disruption, but defined by execution,” said Darren Woods, ExxonMobil chairman and CEO. “Markets were supportive, but our performance reflected the strength of the portfolio and operating model we have built over many years."
