RBC makes major S&P 500 sector shake-up, favors Tech over Utilities

Investing.com -- RBC Capital Markets made a series of S&P 500 sector rating changes, upgrading Technology to overweight and Consumer Discretionary to market weight while downgrading Communication Services and Utilities, designating Tech as its preferred growth-oriented sector heading into the second half of 2026.

Strategist Lori Calvasina said Tech was upgraded partly because "it is difficult to be constructive on the S&P 500 in the year ahead without taking a constructive view on it," given the sector accounts for more than a third of the index's market capitalization.

State Street Investment Management Announces Share Splits for Five Select Sector SPDR® ETFs

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- State Street Investment Management today announced share splits on five Select Sector SPDR ETFs. The splits will decrease the funds’ share prices and increase the number of outstanding shares. The aggregate market value of shares outstanding will not be impacted.

The share splits will apply to shareholders of record as of the market close on December 2, 2025 and are payable after market close on December 4, 2025. Shares will trade at their post-split price effective December 5, 2025. The five Select Sector SPDR ETFs include:
