US forces disable oil tanker heading to Iranian port in Arabian Gulf

U.S. Central Command forces disabled a Botswana-flagged oil tanker in the Arabian Gulf on June 2 as the vessel attempted to reach an Iranian port, according to a CENTCOM statement.

The unladen tanker M/T Lexie was transiting international waters toward Kharg Island when U.S. forces intercepted it. The ship's crew ignored repeated warnings and failed to comply with directions from U.S. forces over a 24-hour period, CENTCOM said.

A U.S. aircraft fired a Hellfire missile into the ship's engine room, disabling the vessel and preventing it from reaching Iran.

Iraq to boost pipeline oil exports to 770,000 bpd

Investing.com -- Iraq announced plans today to increase crude oil exports through pipelines to 770,000 barrels per day from the current 220,000 bpd over the next two and a half months, according to a government statement.

The expansion will occur in two phases as part of Iraq's strategy to diversify export routes and decrease dependence on Gulf shipping lanes.

Iraq also intends to raise crude oil exports by truck to neighboring countries to 420,000 bpd in three phases, the statement said.

Investing.com -- Diplomatic communications between Iran and the United States aimed at reaching a memorandum of understanding to end the war have halted, according to Iran's semi-official Fars news agency on Tuesday.

The exchange of messages between the two nations stopped a few days ago, Fars reported, citing a source with knowledge of the matter.

The most recent communication from Tehran to Washington addressed Lebanon, the agency said. Fars described it as "a clear message about Lebanon" but provided no additional details about the content of the message.

South Korea to triple crude oil imports from Canada this year

Investing.com -- South Korea plans to increase crude oil imports from Canada to 16 million barrels in 2026, up from 4.9 million barrels in 2025, the country's Industry Ministry said on Tuesday.

The move would make South Korea the third-largest export destination for Canadian crude oil, behind the United States and China, according to the ministry.

South Korea also intends to import 3.4 million metric tons of liquefied natural gas from Canada annually.

The ministry said South Korea aims to further increase Canadian crude oil imports to 20 million barrels per year in the future.

The speaker of the Lebanese parliament, Nabih Berri, told the Trump administration on Sunday that Hezbollah is ready for a full and immediate ceasefire with Israel and pledged to guarantee its implementation.
According to a source with knowledge, though, U.S. officials told Berri they don't think Netanyahu would agree.
