TDK to acquire Fabric8Labs for electrochemical manufacturing tech

TDK Corporation (TSE:6762) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Fabric8Labs Inc., a San Diego-based company specializing in Electrochemical Additive Manufacturing technology, the companies announced.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory clearances. Financial terms were not disclosed in the press release.

Fabric8Labs, founded in 2015, develops ECAM technology for electronics manufacturing applications including data center cooling systems, power management components, and RF components for wireless communications. The company claims its technology can reduce accelerator temperatures by up to 7°C/kW compared to competing solutions in data center deployments.

TDK Corporation (TSE: 6762) announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Fabric8Labs, Inc. for up to $400 million in cash, comprising an upfront payment and a multi-year earnout. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory clearances.

Fabric8Labs, headquartered in San Diego, California, is a manufacturing company with proprietary metal 3D printing technology called Electrochemical Additive Manufacturing (ECAM). The company was established in 2015 and employs approximately 150 people. Upon closing, Fabric8Labs will become a wholly owned subsidiary of TDK.
