Sumitomo Corporation (TYO: 8053), SMBC Aviation Capital, Apollo-managed funds and Brookfield have completed their acquisition of Air Lease Corporation, renaming the company Sumisho Air Lease Corporation.

The transaction, originally announced in September 2025, valued Air Lease at approximately $7.4 billion, or approximately $28.2 billion including debt obligations to be assumed or refinanced net of cash, according to the companies' statement.

As part of the deal, Air Lease's orderbook has transferred to SMBC Aviation Capital, bringing SMBC Aviation Capital's orderbook with Airbus and Boeing to approximately 420 aircraft. SMBC Aviation Capital will serve as servicer to the majority of Sumisho Air Lease's aircraft
