DA Davidson analyst Jeff Rulis lowered the price target on Peoples Bancorp (NASDAQ: PEBO) to $42.00 (from $44.00) while maintaining a Buy rating.

The analyst commented, "We view the IRR and scale projections of the bank's latest M&A announcement as impressive, along with added revenue diversity and a clear jump over the $10B asset threshold. However, added credit risk and deal integration tests serve as possible areas of concern in exchange for a 5%+ NIM and above peer profitability metrics. We have lifted our 2027 EPS forecast but lowered our PT to $42; reiterate

Peoples Bancorp falls, Capital Bancorp rises amid all-stock deal

Investing.com -- Peoples Bancorp Inc (NASDAQ:PEBO) shares fell 6% Wednesday after announcing it will acquire Capital Bancorp (NASDAQ:CBNK) in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $728.1 million. Capital Bancorp stock surged 11% on the news.

Under the terms of the merger agreement, Capital shareholders will receive 1.11 shares of Peoples common stock for each share of Capital common stock. Based on Peoples' 20-day volume-weighted average closing price of $39.41 per share as of September 29, the transaction values Capital at $43.75 per share. Former Capital shareholders are expected to collectively own approximately 32% of Peoples
