Genuine Parts (GPC), O'Reilly (ORLY) tick up as chatter grows loader

Solid gains in Genuine Parts (NYSE: GPC) come as an event-driven analyst highlighted jet activity from O'Reilly Automotive (NASDAQ: ORLY) in Atlanta, where the company is headquartered.

Earlier in the month, Bloomberg reported that Genuine Parts received interest from O'Reilly in its auto parts unit, which could be valued at more than $10 billion.

Analysts have been mostly positive on such a move for O'Reilly. Goldman Sachs' Kate McShane said, "... our analysis finds that every scenario would be accretive, although we caution that the outcome is subject to various assumptions and does not factor potential impacts from an FTC
