NHC acquires 35 facilities from NHI for $560 million

National HealthCare Corporation (NYSE American: NHC) has completed the acquisition of real estate comprising 32 skilled nursing facilities and three independent living facilities from National Health Investors, Inc. and its affiliates for $560 million.

NHC had previously leased and operated the facilities under a Master Agreement to Lease with NHI originally entered into in 1991. The properties are located in Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

NHC said it will continue to operate all of the acquired facilities except four skilled nursing facilities in Florida, which will remain subject to a third-party operator's lease.

National HealthCare Corporation (NYSE American: NHC) completed the acquisition of five skilled nursing facilities for $50.5 million, according to a company statement.

The Murfreesboro, Tennessee-based company purchased four facilities in Tennessee and one in South Carolina, totaling 566 operating beds. NHC affiliates had managed these facilities since 1988 under previous management agreements.

Four of the acquired facilities hold 5-Star ratings on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services rating system, while one facility has a 4-Star rating. The facilities operate at 94% occupancy.
