Samsung Bioepis relaunches eye disease biosimilar with Harrow in the US

Samsung Bioepis has relaunched BYOOVIZ (ranibizumab-nuna) in the United States through a commercialization partnership with Harrow (Nasdaq: HROW), according to a press release from the South Korean biopharmaceutical company.

Under the arrangement, finalized in July 2025, Harrow assumed responsibility for U.S. commercialization of both BYOOVIZ and OPUVIZ (aflibercept-yszy) after Biogen returned the commercial rights to Samsung Bioepis at the end of 2025. Samsung Bioepis retains responsibility for development, regulatory registration, and manufacturing of both products.

Harrow (Nasdaq: HROW) announced the commercial launch of BYOOVIZ (ranibizumab-nuna), an FDA-approved biosimilar referencing Lucentis (ranibizumab), developed by Samsung Bioepis Co., Ltd.

BYOOVIZ is indicated for the treatment of neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration, macular edema following retinal vein occlusion, and myopic choroidal neovascularization. The FDA designated it as an interchangeable biosimilar to Lucentis, and it was described by the agency as the first ophthalmology biosimilar approved in the U.S., according to the company's statement.
