Investing.com -- JPMorgan upgraded shares of 3M and Emerson Electric to Overweight from Neutral ahead of upcoming quarterly earnings, citing improving growth prospects, supportive end-market trends and expectations for stronger earnings momentum into 2027.

For 3M, the brokerage raised its December 2026 price target to $180 from $178, saying the company is entering a phase where revenue growth should increasingly support earnings expansion. JPMorgan analyst Chigusa Katoku upgraded Emerson (NYSE: EMR) from Neutral to Overweight with a price target of $157.00.

The analyst comments: “EMR is heavily debated with guidance requiring an organic growth acceleration in the back half while near-term signals are mixed. Emerson launches refinery scheduling software for crude and blending

Emerson (NYSE: EMR) has introduced two new software products designed to automate crude scheduling and product blending at oil refineries, according to a company press release dated July 16, 2026.

The products, Crude Schedule Optimization and Multi-Blend Optimization, are available within Emerson's existing Aspen Unified Scheduling platform. Both are offered as separately licensed additions to that platform.

Crude Schedule Optimization pulls refinery data from Aspen Unified PIMS and automatically determines crude receipts, transfers, blends, and production schedules. The tool also supports "what if" scenario testing to allow schedulers to respond to crude price changes.
