Boeing beats Airbus with 173 plane orders at Farnborough Airshow

Investing.com -- Boeing secured 173 orders at the Farnborough Airshow this week, edging ahead of Airbus which booked 154 jets, as planemakers continue to navigate ongoing supply chain constraints and work through record order backlogs.

The combined total of 327 aircraft orders from both manufacturers fell below some external forecasts that predicted as many as 800 planes would be sold at the show. Industry expectations had anticipated just over 300 orders.

SMBC Aviation Capital, the world's second-largest lessor, placed the week's largest commercial order, splitting 200 single-aisle jets evenly between the two manufacturers. The company ordered 100 Boeing 737

Airbus advances hybrid-electric aircraft technology with LEIA project

Investing.com -- Airbus is working with partners from the European Union, the UK and the US on a hybrid-electric non-propulsive energy system for the next generation of commercial aircraft through its LEIA project.

LEIA, or Large Scale Integration Demonstrator of Hybrid Electrical Architecture, receives support from the European Union Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking. The project focuses on developing high-voltage generation and distribution for electrical aircraft systems designed for short-to-medium range aircraft.

Flynas orders 25 more Airbus jets to expand Saudi operations

Investing.com -- Flynas has placed an order for 25 additional Airbus aircraft, including five A330-900 and 20 A321neo planes, the Saudi low-cost carrier announced Wednesday.

The purchase brings flynas' total commitment for the A330neo to 20 aircraft and its A321neo orders to 56 aircraft. The airline's total firm orders with Airbus now stand at 235 aircraft out of a total orderbook of 280 planes.

Flynas currently operates 67 Airbus aircraft, including two A330-300s, four A320ceos and 61 A320neos. The carrier serves the Saudi market and international destinations from six operating bases across the Kingdom.

Investing.com -- Shohin Airlines has placed its first order with Airbus for four A320neo Family aircraft, the Tajikistan-based carrier announced. The deal includes two A320neo and two A321neo planes.

The agreement appeared in Airbus' end of June order book as an undisclosed order. Shohin Airlines, a private carrier based in Dushanbe, was registered in June 2025.
