Airbus partners with four German firms for satellite surveillance system

Airbus Defence and Space signed a memorandum of understanding with four German companies to develop a satellite-based Earth observation and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance solution. The consortium includes Rohde & Schwarz, constellr, Orbint and High Performance Space Structure Systems.

Airbus will serve as prime contractor and system integrator for the project, which aims to address governmental demand for European space-based surveillance capabilities independent of non-European dependencies. All five companies are headquartered in Germany.

Airbus Helicopters and Quantum Systems signed a cooperation agreement to integrate counter-unmanned aerial system interceptors onto Airbus military helicopters, starting with the H145M model. The partnership was announced at the ILA Berlin 2026 aerospace exhibition.

The collaboration aims to enhance military helicopters' capabilities against unmanned aerial threats. The companies will explore integrating Quantum Systems' counter-UAS technology with Airbus' military helicopter platforms.

Investing.com -- Airbus delivered 81 aircraft to 45 customers in May, the company said Friday. The European aircraft manufacturer also recorded 379 gross orders during the month.

The May deliveries brought Airbus's total deliveries for 2026 to 262 aircraft, distributed among 68 customers through the end of May.

Airbus's total order book stood at 26,272 aircraft across all models at the end of May. The company has delivered 17,019 aircraft in total throughout its history.
