BioVersys begins Phase 3 trial for antibiotic targeting resistant bacteria

BioVersys AG (SIX: BIOV) announced the first patient enrollment in its Phase 3 clinical trial for BV100, an experimental antibiotic designed to treat hospital-acquired and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia caused by carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii.

The RIV-TARGET trial aims to enroll approximately 300 patients across 100 sites in 15 countries. The study will compare BV100 combined with low-dose polymyxin B against a combination of colistin and high-dose ampicillin-sulbactam in patients with suspected or confirmed infections from carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii-calcoaceticus complex.
