NEW YORK, Sept 14 (Reuters) - ‌Bank of America expects its investment banking fees to drop by at least 10% in the third quarter, while sales ‌and trading revenue will be flat, CEO Brian ⁠Moynihan said on Monday.

Shares of BofA extended losses after his comments, dropping ‌over 5% by late afternoon ‌trade. The S&P 500 banking index was down 2.7%.

Bank of America stock dropped 5.3% in mid-day trading on Monday after CEO Brian Moynihan said the bank expects third-quarter investment banking fees between $1.6 billion and $1.8 billion, representing a decline of at least 10% from the same period last year.

Moynihan made the comments at the Barclays Global Financial Services Conference. He said the expected decline stems from a slowdown in the investment banking market, with the industry overall tracking roughly 10% lower.

The forecast marks a shift from the bank's performance earlier in the year. Second-quarter investment banking fees reached $2.1 billion, exceeding analyst expectations.

Investing.com -- Bank of America anticipates its investment banking fees will fall to between $1.6 billion and $1.8 billion in the third quarter, representing at least a 10% decline from $2 billion in the same period last year, Chief Executive Officer Brian Moynihan said today.

Speaking at the Barclays global financial services conference, Moynihan attributed the decline to broader market conditions. The investment banking market overall is down approximately 10%, he said.

The CEO also addressed the state of consumer finances, stating that consumer credit quality remains good. Moynihan noted that affordability is currently the primary concern on consumers' minds.
