Forge Nano and Samsung SDI partner on North Carolina battery plant

Forge Nano, Inc. announced a strategic partnership with Samsung SDI to build a battery manufacturing facility in Morrisville, North Carolina, with production expected to begin in 2028, according to a press release from the company.

Under the agreement, Samsung SDI will assist Forge Nano in constructing and operating a 3-gigawatt hour per year Gigafactory. Samsung SDI has also signed a conditional procurement contract to purchase battery cells produced at the facility starting in 2028. Forge Nano will separately serve as an authorized distributor of Samsung SDI battery cells within the U.S. market.

Forge Nano secures equipment order for photonics manufacturing

Forge Nano Inc., a Denver-based semiconductor equipment company, announced that a photonics technology company has selected its TEPHRA semiconductor wafer fabrication platform for manufacturing integrated photonic devices.

The order involves Forge Nano's atomic layer deposition technology, which the company says enables ultra-thin coatings with atomic-scale precision across complex device architectures. The TEPHRA platform is designed for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing.

"This selection demonstrates the growing role of ALD in commercial photonics manufacturing and validates TEPHRA's ability to meet the demanding requirements of next-generation device production," said Paul Lichty, chief executive officer of Forge Nano.
