PharmaEssentia USA Corporation, a subsidiary of PharmaEssentia Corporation (TWSE: 6446), announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the BESREMi Pen™ (ropeginterferon alfa-2b-njft), a pre-filled pen device for adult patients with polycythemia vera (PV).

The device is a delivery alternative to the existing pre-filled syringe form of BESREMi®, which received FDA approval in 2021. The company said the BESREMi Pen™ is expected to become commercially available in the U.S. in the coming weeks.

PharmaEssentia Corporation (TWSE: 6446) announced the acquisition of FORUS Therapeutics Inc. for $36.5 million, marking the Taiwan-based biopharmaceutical company's expansion into the Canadian market.

The acquisition follows a commercial licensing agreement between the companies established in 2024 for BESREMi (ropeginterferon alfa-2b) in Canada. FORUS submitted a New Drug Submission to Health Canada for the drug's use in polycythemia vera in July 2025, with regulatory approval anticipated in the third quarter of 2026.
