Daimler Looks to Add More Projects with Tesla (TSLA)
Daimler Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche commented on Thursday that the automaker is open to broadening its alliance with Renault and Nissan (OTCBB: NSANY) for small cars, and is also looking to add new projects with Tesla Motors (Nasdaq: TSLA). According to Reuters, the executive commented,
We are in the final path of co-development regarding Twingo and Smart ... That has not to be limited to one product and one segment. Others could be possible ... Mid-term or long-term -- based on further ideas for this segment -- we think that an addition of capacity is very likely, most likely necessary. And then there is the discussion where to locate that.
On a partnership with Tesla, Zetsche commented,
Their project leader was a former member of our team, so we have a lot of very good links, a very constructive good relationship, which certainly has room for further expansion.
Shares of Tesla are lower in early trading Friday.
