Following last week's news that Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and Nokia (NYSE: NOK) received Nokia shareholder approval for the companies' proposed handset deal, the pair have also surpassed another regulatory milestone.

Reuters said today that Microsoft has secured unconditional approval from the European Union (EU) for its $7.3 billion bid to acquire Nokia's Devices & Services unit. The EU will make its final decision on or around December 4th.

Microsoft and Nokia's deal has already been cleared in India, Russia, Israel, and Turkey.
