Oracle's (ORCL) Hurd Opts-Out of Microsoft (MSFT) CEO Candidacy
Another potential candidate has dropped out of running to become the next Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) CEO.
According to Bloomberg headlines, Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) co-President Mark Hurd said he has no plans to make a move over to Microsoft. Hurd issued the comment to reporters in London today.
Speculation over who would move in to replace current Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has been high the last few months.
Recently, Ford (NYSE: F) CEO Alan Mulally poured cold water over chatter that he might take the reins next year, saying he had no plans to leave Ford before the end of 2014.
Other candidates include former Nokia (NYSE: NOK) CEO Stephen Elop, who will join the company upon consummation of the handset unit merger between Microsoft and Nokia. Microsoft's business development chief Tony Bates and former Microsoft exec Paul Maritz are also said to be in the running.
Hurd was former CEO at Hewlett-Packard before a scandal caused the executive to resign in August 2010. For more color, click here.
