Verizon (VZ) CFO Hints That More Apple (AAPL) iPhones Could Have Been Sold in Q3

October 17, 2013 8:57 AM
Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is on watch Thursday morning following commentary from Verizon (NYSE: VZ) executives made during the telecom giant's Q3 conference call.

Verizon CFO Fran Shammo said that there were 3.87 million Apple iPhone activations in Q3 and total sales of the iPhone accounted for 51 percent of all smartphone sales for the company in the quarter. He also noted that a supply constraint on the iPhone resulted in a backlog.

Today's comments come following speculation recently that Apple's iPhone 5s is a better seller than its iPhone 5c by a ratio of 2:1. With the 5c being just $100 less than the 5s, it really should come as a surprise to investors and will be a boon for Apple with its quarterly report coming up next week.

Shares of Apple are lower in early trading.
