Apple (AAPL) iPhone 5S, 5C Pre-Orders Pass 100K Mark for China Unicom (CHU)
China Unicom (NYSE: CHU), China's second-largest wireless carrier, said that initial orders for the Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S have been strong.
According to China Unicom's Weibo account, pre-orders for the two devices have hit and surpassed a combined 100,000 units. The number is largely in-line with iPhone 5 orders for the carrier, which were said to hit 100,000 in early December 2012, just before official launch of the device in China on December 14th, 2012.
News today comes as smaller peer China Telecom (NYSE: CHA) was also said to cut subsidies on the new iPhone lines to bolster sales.
Shares of Apple are indicated for a higher open Monday.
