Is VeriFone (PAY) Losing POS Market Share to More-Innovative Competition?
Despite VeriFone (NYSE: PAY) slumping in late trading Wednesday following Q2 results and light Q3 guidance, is it a company-specific issue?
Maybe, if you take a look at the competition. With its Q113 report in late April, NCR Corp. (NYSE: NCR) topped EPS expectations by 13 cents and boosted its profitability outlook for the balance of FY13. NCR CEO Bill Nuti commented, "We continue to advance our leading global point-of-sale solutions and new innovations, such as our NCR Silver tablet and mobile solution for smaller retailers, and integrate mobile technologies across our platforms."
Though VeriFone had some wins of its own in the quarter, shareholders are probably expecting a little more innovation out of VeriFone moving forward.
VeriFone is down 12 percent.
