BlackBerry (BBRY) to Launch 'High-End' BB10 Device During Holidays

June 5, 2013 2:15 PM
BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) isn't planning to stray away from touchscreen technology just yet.

CNET reports Wednesday that BlackBerry's next devices -- tentatively dubbed the A10 -- will be the highest-tier smartphone for the company. The device is expected to launch and, along with the Q10, will broaden BlackBerry's offerings to four devices.

Sprint (NYSE: S) which opted out of carrying the Z10, will begin selling the A10 in November, notes CNET. The carrier may have held off on the Z10 deeming the A10 to be worth the wait.

No exclusive agreement is in place for Sprint, thus other U.S. carriers are likely to strike deals as well.

BlackBerry was said to be pressured for an A10 announcement last month, but didn't want to take any of the steam out of the Q10 announcement.

Shares of BlackBerry are up 1.1 percent.
