Verizon (VZ) Expected to Carry Lumia 920 Successor in April (NOK)
Nokia (NYSE: NOK) is moving off of intra-session lows following reports that its next-generation smartphone might land on Verizon (NYSE: VZ) soon.
According to TheVerge, Noka's upcoming Lumia 928 device will launch on Verizon's wireless network starting in April. Upgraded features of the Lumia 928 might include a thinner and lighter profile, aluminum body and xenon and LED flash for the 8-megapixel PureView camera. TheVerge sees the Lumia 928 being 10.2-millimeters thick at its thinnest point with a slightly curved back.
Other features like CPI and RAM will be similar to the Lumia 920. All Lumia devices run Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Windows Phase 8 platform.
The move would be big for Nokia. Verizon is the second- largest wireless carrier in the U.S. with 98.2 million subs and it currently only sells the mid-range Lumia 822 device. Though a powerful device in its own right, the "wow" factor on the Lumia 822, with its bulky casing and available colors of white or black, isn't quite the same as the Lumia 920. AT&T (NYSE: T) is the largest U.S. wireless provider offering a wider variety of Lumia devices.
Shares of Nokia are about flat on the session.
