March 4, 2013 1:16 PM
Amid a few recent setbacks, BlackBerry (Nasdaq: BBRY) is making some headway across the pond.

According to German news source Areamobile.de, Angela Merkel's government will start using BlackBerry 10-equipped devices, which is currently limited to the Z10 smartphone. Areamobile.de said BlackBerry will be used by half of the 10,000 devices deemed safe for government workers in Germany.

Germany went with BlackBerry due to its SecuSuite offering.

The other mobile device approved by German officials was the Samsung Galaxy S2 and S3 with the Simko 3 solution.

Additionally, each smartphone will have a private and administrative setting, which is already integrated on BlackBerry via its Balance app.

Shares of BlackBerry are down about 1.4 percent. To read the full report from Areamobile.de, click here.
