Nokia's (NOK) Lumia 920T Could Land on China Mobile's Network Soon

October 23, 2012 7:18 AM
Nokia (NYSE: NOK) investors might have about 700 million reasons to smile Tuesday.

According to a quick post on Sina's (Nasdaq: SINA) Weibo microblogging service, China Mobile (NYSE: CHL) will begin carrying the Lumia 920T next month. The device is said to work on China Mobile's 3G and upcoming 4G networks.

Since putting the post up, China Mobile has since removed the message from Weibo's site.

According to TheNextWeb, citing Chinese bloggers who picked up on the message, China Mobile's device will be similar in terms of specs to the one announced in September by Nokia. More here.

Pricing wasn't released.

Of course, the 'T' in '920T' indicates support for China Mobile's TD-SCDMA network.

China Mobile is the world's largest wireless provider, boasting about 700 million subs at last check, with 75 million as 3G subs. In addition, Nokia could see a benefit from not having to compete with Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone yet.

Shares of Nokia are indicated lower in early trading.
