Unum Group (UNM) Misses Q1 EPS by 3c; Raises Dividend

Unum Group (NYSE: UNM) reported Q1 EPS of $0.73, $0.03 worse than the analyst estimate of $0.76. Revenue for the quarter came in at $2.61 billion versus the consensus estimate of $2.59 billion.

The Company also announced today that its Board of Directors has authorized an increase of 23.8 percent in the quarterly dividend paid on its common stock. The new quarterly dividend rate of 13 cents per common share will be effective with the dividend expected to be paid in the third quarter of 2012.


Outlook - The Company anticipates growth in after-tax operating income per share for full year 2012 to be at the low end of the range of six percent to twelve percent, including the effect of expected share repurchases.
