Sensata launches ultrasonic flow sensors for data center cooling

October 22, 2026 8:04 AM

Sensata Technologies (NYSE: ST) has launched its FL Series Ultrasonic Flow Sensors, a non-intrusive flow-monitoring product line designed for liquid cooling systems in data centers and industrial applications, according to a company statement.

The FL Series supports flow rates up to 400 liters per minute and offers flow measurement accuracy of up to ±1% of full scale. The sensors carry an IP65 rating, contain no moving parts, and are designed to produce low pressure drops, characteristics the company says support low-maintenance operation.

The product is compatible with coolant distribution units, chillers, HVAC systems, and industrial cooling equipment. It works with deionized water and glycol mixtures and can be integrated with programmable logic controllers, building management systems, and other control platforms through digital and analog outputs. Integrated temperature sensing is available as an option.

Sensata says ultrasonic sensing allows the FL Series to maintain stable flow measurements under varying coolant conditions, including the presence of bubbles. The sensors are designed for both primary and secondary cooling loops and support a range of housing materials, connection types, and communication protocols.

"As AI and high-performance computing place greater demands on data center infrastructure, effective cooling is becoming increasingly critical," said Alice Martins, EVP and President of Industrials at Sensata Technologies. "The FL Series builds on that broader portfolio, giving customers reliable flow data to help them manage cooling performance and keep critical systems operating reliably."

The FL Series is an addition to Sensata's existing data center product portfolio, which also spans thermal management, electrical protection, and power management.
