Illumia and HID expand partnership for campus mobile credentials

October 21, 2026 10:01 AM

Illumia, a business unit of Roper Technologies (Nasdaq: ROP), has announced an expanded partnership with HID to extend mobile credential support to IDX, Illumia's cloud-based campus platform.

The agreement allows colleges and universities that already use HID mobile credentials through Illumia's on-premises CS Gold system to carry those credentials forward when migrating to IDX. Institutions with compatible HID readers already installed can preserve that infrastructure during the transition, separating the decision to upgrade the campus card platform from the need to replace physical access hardware.

"Campus technology rarely changes all at once," said Don Smith, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Higher Education at Illumia. "Illumia's expanded HID partnership gives schools more options to cost effectively adopt mobile credentials today with Illumia's IDX and CS Gold platforms while giving them the flexibility to move to the cloud on their own timeline."

Daniel Gundlach, Vice President PACS, North America at HID, said the extension of mobile credential support to IDX is intended to ensure compatibility with existing reader infrastructure while broadening how institutions can deliver mobile-based access.

According to Illumia's 2025 Higher Ed Innovation Index, conducted with Hanover Research, 80% of higher education institutions planned to fully migrate their core systems to the cloud within 24 months.

Illumia, formerly known as Transact + CBORD, serves more than 10,000 higher education, healthcare, and senior living institutions. HID, headquartered in Austin, Texas, employs more than 4,500 people and operates in more than 100 countries. HID is a brand of ASSA ABLOY Group.
