Interactive Brokers launches AI autonomous trading feature
Interactive Brokers Group (Nasdaq: IBKR) announced a new capability called IBKR Autonomous Trading, which allows eligible clients to authorize connected AI platforms to monitor more than 75,000 listed stocks, options, and ETFs worldwide and submit orders without requiring client approval for each individual trade.
The feature uses a dedicated AI Partition, which clients can fund by transferring money from their main IBKR account. No new account or external deposit is required. The AI operates based on client-defined instructions and is subject to account restrictions, funding limits, and eligibility requirements that may change over time.
Clients can connect AI platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, and Perplexity to their accounts using natural language instructions. Examples of instructions include trimming portfolio positions that exceed a set allocation threshold or selling covered calls when implied volatility reaches a specified level.

"For decades, Interactive Brokers has used automation to give investors greater access, efficiency and control," said Milan Galik, Chief Executive Officer of Interactive Brokers. "IBKR Autonomous Trading builds on that approach, allowing clients to define their trading strategies and safeguards while connected AI monitors markets and executes trades within those parameters."
The new capability differs from the company's existing AI Integration tool, which generates trade instructions for client review before submission. IBKR Autonomous Trading removes that individual approval step for eligible accounts.
Availability varies by Interactive Brokers affiliate and client country of residence, and is subject to entity, country, and regulatory eligibility requirements. The feature is available to clients in the U.S., U.K., Europe, Singapore, and Australia, according to the company's press release.
