Nutanix and Supermicro plan joint AI inference system for 2027
Nutanix (NASDAQ: NTNX) and Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ: SMCI) announced plans for a jointly engineered AI infrastructure solution aimed at reducing the cost of private AI inference for enterprise customers, according to a press release issued at NVIDIA GTC in Berlin on Oct. 21, 2026.
The planned solution will combine Supermicro servers with the Nutanix Cloud Platform, NVIDIA GPUs, and NVIDIA Spectrum-X networking. Each server node is designed to house eight NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra GPUs. The companies say the offering is intended to reduce custom configuration and integration complexity for on-premises AI deployments.
The stack will include Nutanix Kubernetes Platform, Nutanix Enterprise AI, and Nutanix Unified Storage, which holds NVIDIA Enterprise-certified storage certification. The architecture is designed to support AI inference workloads from bare metal provisioning through model-as-a-service delivery, with a dedicated management cluster intended to maintain operations without disrupting GPU execution.

"Combining Supermicro's engineered servers with Nutanix's full-stack software will deliver a pre-validated, rack-scale solution that bypasses traditional lead-time delays," said Matthew Thauberger, Chief Revenue Officer at Supermicro.
Thomas Cornely, Executive Vice President of Product Management at Nutanix, said the collaboration is a response to infrastructure complexity and hardware procurement challenges that slow enterprise AI deployments.
The solution is expected to be available in early 2027 through Supermicro and its channel partners. The companies noted that the offering remains subject to ongoing development and the finalization of commercial arrangements between the parties.
