Rockwell Automation unveils AI orchestration platform for factories

October 21, 2026 7:01 AM

Rockwell Automation (NYSE: ROK) announced FactoryTalk Conductor, an AI-native orchestration platform designed to coordinate AI-powered workflows across the industrial automation lifecycle, according to a company press release dated Oct. 21, 2026.

The software will make its public debut at Automation Fair 2026 in Boston, with commercial availability planned for the first quarter of 2027.

At launch, FactoryTalk Conductor will integrate with Studio 5000 Logix Designer, Logix Echo, Emulate3D and FactoryTalk Optix. Additional integrations with FactoryTalk Design Studio, FactoryTalk Historian, Plex and Fiix are planned for a later date.

The platform allows users to initiate engineering tasks using natural language and connects software, AI capabilities and workflows to complete them. Customers can use Rockwell Automation-verified AI agents and skills or create their own. The platform also supports connections to third-party large and small language models, including locally hosted open-weight models.

"The next phase of industrial AI will be defined by orchestration rather than individual copilots," said Craig Resnick, Vice President at ARC Advisory Group. "Manufacturers need AI technologies that can coordinate tasks across software systems, engineering tools and operational data."

Matheus Bulho, senior vice president of software and control at Rockwell Automation, said the platform combines AI orchestration with industrial expertise, allowing customers to connect AI across software, data and services.

Rockwell Automation's 2026 State of Smart Manufacturing Report cited in the release states that one-third of manufacturing operations are already AI-augmented.
