Parsons gets federal approval for PFAS soil cleanup technology
Parsons Corporation (NYSE: PSN) announced it received a Success Memo from the U.S. Department of Defense's Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) and Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) for its soil remediation technology targeting per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, commonly known as PFAS.
The approval allows any federal agency to pursue follow-on production contracts with Parsons without additional competitive procedures, functioning similarly to a sole source contract.
Parsons demonstrated its patented Thermal Conduction Heating (TCH) technology under a competitive ESTCP prototype project, during which the company removed PFAS to below laboratory reporting limits from contaminated soil on-site. The on-site approach eliminates the need to transport and dispose of large volumes of contaminated material at landfills or offsite facilities.

"PFAS impacts remain a significant environmental challenge, and our government clients trust Parsons to deliver effective remedial solutions with speed and confidence," said Mark Fialkowski, President of Infrastructure North America at Parsons.
PFAS are synthetic chemicals that persist in soil and groundwater. Federal regulatory attention to PFAS contamination has increased in recent years.
The Chantilly, Virginia-based company stated the approval positions it to support government-led PFAS cleanup efforts across the United States. Parsons offers additional PFAS-related services including AFFF Cleanout Services, UV PFAS Destruction, and Hot In Situ Chemical Oxidation.
