Klaviyo shares jump 8% as Salesforce moves to acquire rival Braze for $5.7 billion
Investing.com — Klaviyo (NYSE: KVYO) shares rose 8% on Tuesday following news that Salesforce (NYSE: CRM) reached a definitive agreement to acquire rival customer engagement platform Braze (NASDAQ: BRZE) in a transaction valued at approximately $5.66 billion. Under the terms of the deal, Braze Class A shareholders will receive $47.50 in cash per share.
The acquisition highlights accelerating consolidation across digital marketing software while underscoring the strategic distinction between the two leading customer engagement providers. While both platforms enable personalized messaging, they cater to separate tiers. Klaviyo specializes in direct-to-consumer and ecommerce brands via turn-key integrations with Shopify, BigCommerce, and WooCommerce, using transparent tier-based pricing tied to profile counts. Braze focuses on enterprise digital products and mobile apps through data warehouse streaming and custom enterprise contracts.
Why Klaviyo Stock Is Moving Up on the Deal
First, the acquisition sets a high benchmark transaction multiple for pure-play customer engagement software, causing Wall Street analysts to re-rate Klaviyo upward in tandem with the cash premium offered for Braze.
Second, Salesforce absorbing Braze into its enterprise cloud ecosystem shifts Braze’s focus deeper into legacy enterprise accounts, reducing direct competitive overlap and freeing up market share for Klaviyo across mid-market ecommerce.
Finally, with Braze being taken private by an enterprise titan, Klaviyo becomes the primary standalone public asset in modern retention marketing, stoking market speculation that it could emerge as an attractive acquisition target for competing cloud giants like Adobe or Google.
