Jefferies reports New Jersey casino revenue dipped in September
Investing.com -- New Jersey's gross gaming revenue fell 1.3% in September, leading to flat third-quarter growth compared to a 4.3% increase in the prior-year period, according to Jefferies.
Caesars Entertainment (NASDAQ: CZR) properties showed strength during September with a 9.4% year-over-year increase. This growth was offset by weakness at MGM Resorts International's (NYSE: MGM) Borgata property, which may be experiencing disruption from its ongoing $107 million room renovation project.
For states that reported data through September, third-quarter gross gaming revenue growth varied by operator. Penn Entertainment (NASDAQ: PENN) recorded 3.9% growth, while Churchill Downs (NASDAQ: CHDN) posted 3.5% growth. Boyd Gaming (NYSE: BYD) showed 1.9% growth and Caesars Entertainment recorded 0.9% growth. MGM Resorts International saw a 1.2% decline.

The overall U.S. market recorded 3.4% growth for the third quarter.
